I'm thinking about doing the same next year. I have a Caterham at the moment, but i've decided that i'd like something more usable, and I do like 911's. Is it 3.4 or 3.6? Did you buy privately or trade? Feel free to impart some info
I sold my Westfield to buy my 996. Much as I liked the former I love the latter.Minor update. The car needed a service, so ordered the below. A service kit from FrazerPart and some uprated Osram Night Breaker 'Unlimited' bulbs (a set for both main and full beam): -
The kit came with spark plugs as well but they were changed not long ago according to the history I have on the car so I left them be!
The usual oil debate resulted in a phonecall to Hartech and the recommendation of the below, purchased from Opie Oils. I then got a filter socket from Halfords.
Worst item was the cabin filter - worth checking yours!
The headlight bulbs on the car had been 'upgraded' around 10 years ago (I'm a nerd with Google) with some HID effect bulbs on the main beam, which made me glad when I realised it may not have been my eyes failing after all. You can see the difference from them to the new Osrams.
The Osrams are such good value I did the full beams also. Light performance is pretty impressive compared to stock.
And colour difference to the original fog lights.
Still in one piece
On the to do list is new wipers are the originals are past their best.

Looks like everyone's having a fettle then, my weekend exploits.........
(Tip: The various online guides suggest the pump comes out from below. On my 2003 car, there's a solid pipe (A) that just can't be shifted far enough out of the way to do that. By removing one guide pulley (B), it lifts out easily from above. If you've normal size hands, a bit of garden hose is just the ticket to guide this little rascal back in (C).)
Plus an exhaust replacement, one side offered up here!

What colour is your car, it looks in great condition.
I've had mine about 13 months and love every mile I do in it.
Its Ocean Blue Metalic with Space Grey interior. It has xenons, cruise, 8 way electric seats. The previous owner had lowered coil springs and different shocks supplied by Porsche and it's got different exhausts.
I have some refurbished Turbo Twists to fit too.

I'm new to 996 ownership having owned many many cars and classic cars i got into my first PORSCHE and love it to bits, its a 2001 3.4 C2 77k miles with a really nice history file lots of nice options inc PSM, PSE, Heated Black leather sports seats, just had full Koni suspension set up 997 short shift. this is a keeper.
Booking it in to PARR for a service and i have many subtle plans for it, can not wait!
Cheers and love all the 996's on this thread guys

keep hold of and good care of those 'boggo' C2s and C4s. they are the next on the up list.
great cars, still quick today and easy to maintain. still love em and have one tucked away in a place I can't get too easily and probably for another decade ;-) GT3 stays in the garage and close to the eyes....

Jay is it the Koni Sport kit your car is fitted with, with the adjustable shocks? How is it ride quality wise etc? Have you adjusted it much? It is high on my list if I decide to refresh the suspension in future as the Koni stuff seems good quality and it has H&R springs I believe - again decent reputation. Would be good to get an opinion.Booking it in to PARR for a service and i have many subtle plans for it, can not wait!

Agreed, just ordered new Bosch front and rear as couldn't get the PIAA ones easily for a good price. I did consider the PIAA refills but even they were expensive and the actual wiper frames on my car looked a little tired. Bosch ones are meant to fit like OEM so will see...
The only shame with the Bosch is only one side is Aerotwin, the other is normal which looks a bit odd.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
