Where's the best place to start look for a project, was thinking about one with a blown engine or similar. Trying to avoid a cat c/d. Want a long term project probably in 6 months time.

Might be worth adding a little more detail on what you're looking for?

Blown engine suggests you want a 996 or 997.1?

Hi thanks for your reply, I am completely new to the Porsche world but I have been looking at the 996, I was thinking about stripping one and building a gt racer version?

confused

You've stated "thinking about stripping one and building a gt racer version?" and then you state a 996 C4S Tiptronic Cabriolet is the type of car you're looking for.

Surely if you're serious you'd want a manual 996.1/996.2 C2 coupe as a base car.

I'd suggest looking at this 996 'CLR' and build thread

As for 996 with blown engines you'd be best to watch eBay, put wanted ads on all the main forums PH, 911uk etc and speak to Hartech as they must speak to a few people who have cars in need of repair (which the owners may be willing to sell).

I just cannot see that car making anyone a profit. Tip, cab, engine, body....all negatives. £10k for engine, £6k for body and paint. Car owes you £25k and it is still a tip cab!

I am not sure which is the best option, I wanted something to convert into a track type looking car or similar

I'd steer away from any 911 soft top if you were looking for a track project that had any credibility. You will definitely need a manual 2wd coupe. Preferably without a sunroof. A Boxter would be a better bet for what you are looking to do and excellent value by comparison
