USB Autoconnect Disable

Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible in a VW to disable the USB connection to the stereo as an audio source, and just use the USB for a power outlet?
The USB connection is horrendous in terms of usability with the iPhone.
I have googled the nuts off this and the only solution is a USB fag lighter socket which isn't the end of the world but my GTI has 3 USB outputs in the front alone.
