I picked up my first new car on Friday - a 3 door M140i

Coming from a Clio 200 Cup, the car is a perfect blend of quick and comfortable - while being small enough to drive around SE London easily. I'm still running it in (and will be for some time, given I bike to work), so sticking below 4,500rpm, but first impressions are that it's as quick, if not a little quicker in gear, than my old E39 M5.

idrive is great (pro nav, so has all of the online widgets) and being able to plan a journey on my phone and send it to the car satnav (from inside the house/office) is brilliant. HK speakers are really quite good.

In short, I'm happy. I'm looking for an S1 Elise as a second car soon, which will give me my perfect (non-millionaire) garage.

A couple of quick pics:

Very nice, great all round and fairly subtle motors these.

Great looking red, but I'm sorry: biking to work is no excuse for not using the car, plan a long road trip to get it run in wink

Very nice! A 140i and S1 Elise is pretty much my ideal garage. I'm currently on the poor mans version E87 120i and MR2 Roadster.

What is the exhaust sound like? I've ordered a 140i for January when my Golf R goes back. The golf is great but sounds a bit crap

I bought mine. I got a couple of quotes from brokers and went to my local dealer and asked them if they could match, which they did and threw in the service pack. I got a discount of just short of £7800 in the end.

I bought mine too. I wanted a few extras so leasing got pretty expensive - especially as I wanted a 3 door (I'm fairy tall so felt like I was sitting by the door pillar in the 5 door).

I got about £8600 off the list price. In hindsight, I maybe could have got a bit more as getting that wasn't a struggle.

It's ok - start up is nice but it quietens down quickly. The engine note is nice though. I might end up with the upgraded exhaust, but wouldn't want a drone when I'm on the motorway, so need to hear one first.

Melbourne red looks great yes They really are great all-rounders and I can confirm they make a perfect partner for an Elise. I had a M135i a few years back (and a 111R) and I've just got a M140i and still have the Lotus. Happy days biggrin

Jealous of your red one! When I ordered you couldn't get 3dr or red!! I've had mine since July. The exhaust gets a bit louder when it is worn in a bit, 4400 now. Was on the handsfree to the GF yesterday and opened it up a bit.... Got a telling off and she wasn't even in the car!! hehe

Got mine on a PCP. £8700 off list.

One thing to check guys is the condition of your wheels and exhaust rattles. Painting of the wheels is a known problem. Shocking quality and in my case lack of paint entirely. Going in for a FOC refurb next week. There are a number of people on the forum that have had exhausts and valves replaced on the exhaust due to a rattle on cold start. Mines done it a few times but not enough to worry me.

Love it - smart and understated - the perfect 'sleeper'! I'd have to have the mirror caps matched to the body colour though - they look totally out-of-place in silver, or maybe that's just my designer OCD coming out.

Very nice, looking good in 'melbourne red'! Really suits it IMO.

You guys are obviously still running them in, but any initial thoughts on the power delivery? How does the B58 feel in the 1er? Oh and one more thing: seeing those deals makes me envious. Can you really get one for ~ 27k GBP in the UK?

Really made me wonder if there is a way of buying a LHD one in the UK to re-import.

You might want to ask your German main dealer to get 20% off. At least that's what they offered in September.

No. Closer to £25k and probably a bit less if you play your cards right.
