With 400 miles remaining before the first service becomes due, I tried to book a first service today for my new Audi A6 Avant Tdi ULTRA.

The three nearest main AUDI dealers in the Cambridge area were all equally unhelpful.

The earliest available service date was 16th November 2016 (almost five weeks wait), offered by Cambridge Audi.confused

Fortunately, the AUDI has been faultless, the dealer experience from thinking about a purchase, arranging a test drive, pre-sales support and now service has been beyond disappointing.

The AUDI excuse for what I consider to be dismal service, was basically "You know we had some issues regarding exhaust emissions, well we are very busy correcting the affected vehicles".

What has been your recent experience of AUDI main dealer service...is it just me?

Standard form from the stealers, my last experience of a dealer was so bad I am now using an independent specialist.

The only reason I can see for using a dealer is to maintain a warranty.

I've spoke to several people at the only Audi dealer in my city regarding my car and none of them knew anything about it, if it was a 2.0 TDI they might have known, but with it been petrol TFSI they are clueless, with a few people in servicing tell me I need my cam belt changing if it's not been done.

Funny that with them been chain driven.

Did speak to one lovely lass in servicing who went out of her way to get the information I needed.

I also looked the dealership up online, and ex employees really slate the place , seems they are all under st loads of pressure and get treated badly.

I've always found them good, mines a company cat so hitachi tend to book it in for me if that makes a difference, usually a good few weeks though.

I find it odd that its a 4 week wait for a first service.

I am guessing you asked for a courtesy vehicle?

I wondered that too. I rang to book my Merc in and they asked if tomorrow was OK!

The waiting times are the only real complaint I have with Audi main dealer service tbh. The car gives you good warning a service is due though and it's easy to check how long you have at any time, so I guess they expect customers to get booked in sooner. There are a lot of leased/company cars on service plans so it's no surprise they are well booked up.

I know you pay extra for the flashy showrooms and the receptionists with fake tan/tits etc but I've always been treated well when I go in to the local dealer, despite looking well out of their normal demographic.

2-3 weeks down here is typical.

Only other option is to be a scumbag, disconnect something, get Audi assist to bring it in as a breakdown and wait for them to call you telling it needs a service.

No courtesy vehicle required, however whilst the dashboard information provides a service countdown, I did not anticipate having to calculate my vehicle usage for the next five weeks so that I could get my car serviced at the appropriate time? wink
Fortunately I have never had this issue with my S Class MB, that has been looked after by the top notch MB independent specialist, Alex Crow. smile

So, the car only gave you a 400 mile service due warning?

Seems odd.

My local Audi dealer is one of the top ten reasons why I'm glad to see the back of my Q3. I think I will start a new thread to list the other 9. The dealership rarely answers the phone, doesn't fix things first time, charges excessively and returns the car late. Loan cars never available. aside from that, they are just dandy.

I never take either of mine anywhere near a main dealer, find a decent indie, they should be better and much cheaper.

I used these chaps a few years ago to do a pre-purchase inspection on one of mine before I flew down to buy it, that particular service was excellent, maybe worth giving them a call?

and to correct a previous post you don't need to use a main dealer to preserve warranty any longer, the Block Exemption ruling took care of that a few years ago.

Good luck

That's fine for anyone with a vehicle that is way out of warranty.

However, if the vehicle is within the warranty and its serviced outside of the network then the chances of any manufacturer contribution towards any out of warranty repairs will be minimal if at all.

Not in my experience, had a goodwill payment which covered an out of warranty element of repair made on my wife's car a couple of years ago whilst on third year "dealer warranty". Car had never been near a main dealer and they happily paid up...and that was with that bastion of customer service... FIAT. Also had her current car repaired under warranty last month, again serviced outwith the Dealer network, no questions asked and full cost covered.

Indeed, but what i meant was that once the vehicle is out of warranty, then the chances of help reduce considerably.

Mind you, it is all down to how helpful the dealer is.
