Thanks, that's very useful. I won't get so hung up about the number of previous owners then.

Anybody able to comment on my other question regarding getting the 991 Turbo body through the width restrictions we sometimes see in the UK?

Thanks very much.
significantly less wide than an F type or 488 and the same as a Jag XF so unlikely to be an issue. Less wide than an ambulance.

What are you considering, 991.1 TS or...?

On the 911 front, yes the 991.1 TS (when did it become 991.2?)

I mean what's the other option, if not a 991. Think the .2 was released last year.

Ah OK....

McLaren 12C
Lambo Huracan
Bentley Continental V8S
Ferarri 458, maybe FF

Although some are being considered more seriously than others!!

I was close to buying a 12C before the 911. Very fast car, hugely impressive but wasn't for me.

Used to have a Continental GT Speed. Amazing interior, very quick. Heavy car though.

Hankered after an FF recently.

No experience of a 488 or Huracan. No doubt that the Lambo is the true supercar when it comes to looks, a really outrageous design, in a good way.

The 911 won me over with it's insane performance in all weather, the fact that you can stick it on track and it'll hold its own with the best of them and that it feels right to use it whenever you want. It doesn't feel precious. Which is a good or a bad thing depending on what you're after. It's just a car, a very fast and capable car. I wouldn't class it as a Sunday car. That's your Lambo or 488.

I love mine. You know all the great things you hear about them? They're all true.

Ah, well variety is the spice of life. I'd be wanting to try something new. If you go 12C then I'd make sure it had a McLaren warranty or at the very least take it to Thorney Motorsport for an inspection. They are very thorough and surprisingly reasonable on price. They will also come out to the car if the seller is unwilling for it to be moved to them.

If I am being honest I am leaning towards the Bentley at the moment, quite like the idea od the 4wd and a bit of class/luxury in my life! Little worried about the depreciation though, looking at the numbers it is about £1200pm for 30 months.............

Big discounts available on new CGTs by all accounts. Still going to get hammered on depreciation though.

And exit not easy. Mate of mine bought one two years ago in the full expectation it would cost him £40k to own it for that long. His expectation was about right but despite it being a low mileage car in a good spec and colour he's having trouble getting a dealer properly interested....they'll put a bid on it but all want to make £20k to £30k. He's spent the last month trying to close that gap. I dread to think if you dared to put mileage on it and had gone for a punchy colour.

I would be looking at a 2 year ish old model on any of these. Let someone else take the initial massive hit.

Sorry mate, I thought this thread had died long ago.

I'm really enjoying the car but bear in mind its my first 911, though I've owned some other half decent cars ie AMGs and M cars. It has insane power/torque which is always accessible ie you can never really find yourself in the wrong gear at anytime. The handling is very good but I must admit the turn in isn't as sharp as the 991.2 C2S I test drove, but that car was under powered for my appetite for super car pace.

If I were going to swap it for another £100k + car it wouldn't be for a Conti or similar. A car like that obviously won't have the dynamic abilities of the 911 TT. I would only swap it for something with more drama ie Mclaren, Ferrari etc.

But there's a reason I didn't even look at those cars and that's practicality (and increased cost lol). I drive the 911 everyday to work, I go shopping in it and pick my two boys up from school in it. I wouldn't be able to do that in any of the more 'exotic' cars. It's also why I didn't go for a GT3 model.

So for me it ticks all the boxes. There are other cars out there that do certain things better but there is no car out there that does all the things that the 911 does. Its in a class of one.

This suits me down to the ground but I fully understand why it might be the exact same reason that puts some people off the car.

All the best

I have a 991.2 TS which I bought to replace a 991.1 GT3 which I had for 18 months and did 9,500 miles driving daily. I personally prefer the GT3, the TS is very easy to drive fast, the GT3 requires far more respect IMHO. GT3 has great character, just waiting for the .2

If I didn't need the two back seats I would have bought the best GT3 that my budget would have allowed. I have no doubt that the GT3 is the more involving drive but my sons would never have forgiven me if I had bought a Porsche that they both couldn't ride in lol

In addition I also do appreciate the 4wd in weather like this. Again, some might call that boring, but I want the ability to make rapid progress even when the weather is bad.

In an ideal world (where I am a highly paid cage fighter..) I'd like a 991 TS and a 991 GT3 RS!

Sat in a 991 Turbos S today and instantly knew it was the car for me, just felt like home and I was excited as to what the turbo could bring. Not many about at the moment so the search will begin!!

If you've never owned a 911 turbo you'll find it very different to the 'vanilla' models. A couple of downsides ie the sound and a slightly less keen turn in but the power is on a different level.

Happy hunting!
