Jaguar XF Sportbrake test pics
An XF wagon is on the way and it's looking good!
In the Jaguar way it is likely to be called Sportbrake, replacing the original XF Sportbrake much sooner in the XF lifecycle than that car did. With a new E-Class Estate already available and a 5 Series Touring on the way, the Jag certainly won't want for rivals. That's in addition to the wealth of SUV alternatives too.
These first spy shots of an XF Sportbrake at the Nurburgring show it in 'S' spec, the same as tested by PH earlier this year as a diesel saloon. Note the 20-inch wheels, red calipers, disguised 'S' badge on the grille and twin exhausts. From what can be seen here the rear lights appear very similar to the saloon, as per the last Sportbrake.
Where there's less certainty at the moment is exactly what the estate bit of the Sportbrake will look like. Right now it has a rather hearse-like appearance, which is at odds with the rather swoopy silhouette of the old one. We'll assume that's a clever disguise to keep the final look hidden until the very last moment. Fingers crossed at least...
The XF Sportbrake is likely to make its debut at some point in 2017; expect it to be offered with the same engine and spec options as the saloon with a slight price premium. Then it has to be time for the XF SVR, doesn't it chaps?

Quality journalism!
Edit: fk it I can't tell. Is that front end not an XE?? dot com
HTH!
I wonder if the Sportbrake has big spoiler and a slightly Evoue-like treatment? The glass actually looks quite raked to me.
Stupid name though.
Disagree on the second; I quite like Jaguar's mangling of the term "shooting brake" which has connotations of posh estate car, and combining it with "sport" to fit the aspirational market, even if it is mainly bought by dog walkers.
The same criticism was made of the X Type estate.
The lack of XE estate is mid-boggling, considering the lack of smaller Jaguar SUV to supplement its sales with.
This new XF estate is a welcome change from Jaguar's short-sightedness and slow-wittedness in bringing estate cars to market in Europe.
Digga snr has an XF and it was in for a routing service at the dealers and they changed the full set of Pirellis, free of charge, for some new Goodyear rubber, because Jaguar were not happy about the tyre wear. Now whatever the actual story there (will we ever find out?) that sort of pre-emptive approach to issues speaks volumes to me.
