The 2 extension cables I suggested in the earlier post both charge as well as pass through data. Probably won't be as fast as plugging into a wall but that's the car not the cable's fault.

Anyone running version 1.47 or below on PCM 3.0 able to connect a 'lightning' iPhone with the Lighting to 30-pin adapter?

I have been able to successfully connect an iPhone 4s (30 pin, ios8) directly to the Porsche Y cable but having no luck connecting an iPhone 6s (ios 10) via a 'genuine' Lighting to 30-pin adapter. Do I need a firmwire update to my PCM?

I had the same setup with the Y cable and 30 pin to Lightning adaptor and it worked fine on my MY2010 997.2. However in the meantime I simply got fed up with connecting the phone to a cable every time I got in the car so now use a Bluetooth adaptor. Details can be found here if interested...

For those who are concerned about phone battery exhausting, as well as using a Bluetooth adaptor and Y cable, I have also purchased a 2 port USB hub which you can get here.. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/C2G-USB-Hub-USB-2-0-2-P... ...and elsewhere so that I can simultaneously run the Bluetooth adaptor for playing music from the iPhone (in "iPod mode" controlled via PCM3.0) and either charge the phone or listen to some music on a USB memory stick. Again another first world problem solved

Just to follow on...changed my phone to the iPhone 7 with the same set up.
I now can't control music from the head unit (greyed out)...nor can I turn up volume on the car or iPhone....

Anyone?

On old post but very useful thanks all. Thought I'd reply... with some further info that worked for me.

I wanted to play amazon music, ideally through the PCM... I ended up with a reasonable solution. Got the y cable available here:
https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod21580/Multimedi...

As mentioned above you need the official Apple 30 pin (old ipod) to lightning adapter (£40!!!) (for newer apple devices) to carry sound, data, power. (cheap copies dont work - found that out!). Then got a lightning extension cable (fremale to male). (as the ipod6 with the y cable connector and 30 pin adapter was too big to fit in the compartment (with the non flexible connectors used immediately connected in the ipod) - also allows use of the ipod without pulling all those other cables out!)

Couldn't use an older ipod touch directly connected (v4 and earlier) as the Amazon music app wont run on them! (possibly same for other streaming services apps).

Seems to work well and show the music playing on the PCM and allow shuffle/next track using the car buttons. (only downside the playlist search cant be used from the PCM itself as it appears to only read the Apple Music app.
