Hello,

Got my act and funds together for a DB9, manual only(!), RHD, I know this is my third / fourth thread now but ... But it's my first proper car and I am quite excited.

I have ordered Grants book (thanks PH) but still have a few questions.

I am awaiting an update from a dealer ref one car they have coming into stock, it 'says' FAMSH albeit not since late 2014 (maybe Oct/Nov).

From what I have read, oil level is crucial on these cars so what should I be checking or worrying about? At the moment I don't know the mileage between the service and now.

Thanks ... Again.

Unless anyone else knows of one for sale ... Am I allowed to post a link to a wanted advert here?

Hi where abouts are you, I have just bought a manual and am very happy with it, I live near Stafford

There was an updated dips tick part number 4G4E-6750-AC, easy to check if you have the newer shorter one

Unless it's a daily driver and you do loads of miles it's easier enough to check the oil when cosseting it at the weekends.

In Germany!

Just to add, buying the book failed, no post to the ol' Fatherland.

Did you use a guide or .. ? Pre purchase inspection?

I am a technician by trade and bought the book, did loads of research, rang a dealer and inspected my car myself.

I'm entirely happy that I know what's been done and needs doing and whilst being a technician has helped, most of it is common sense

Book is now in its way to my parents, I have done a fair amount of research but would not mind further guidance or help.

Just a quick one to say the guide is available direct to Germany (they are shipped there regularly) either via its own website www.astonmartinreview.co.uk or Ebay. You probably looked on Amazon, where it isn't offered in Continentsl Europe due to Amazon's postal allowance not even covering half the actual cost of shipping via Airmail.

The manual DB9 is a rare beast so you will need patience to find the right one.
Beware of missing service history, particularly if it is as mentioned - 2 years out of date. This affects future value and warrants more thorough inspection wink
With regards to the dipstick changes the service action reference is below...
Shorter Dipstick for DB9 V12 Vehicles
Reference: SA-03-0165V2 Type: Service Actions
Model: DB9
Model Year: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008

Thanks Grant, no issue with future value as it'll never be sold.

I am just wondering as to the potential
Impact on the car, I assume if the mileage gal is low then it'll be a minor risk ... I mean Ferraris / AM / Lambos here on the continent are rarely serviced annually like in the Uk ....

Difficult to track one down in budget at the moment, I think after this weekend if none of my searching pans out I will place a wanted advert.

Thanks Gents!

I am after RHD as it will stay in UK awaiting my return, although there are two LHD for sale over here at the moment, far to expensive though.

Nothing so far, no new cars for a few weeks and no communication as a result of my "wanted" advert nor my proactive searching ... A rare beast indeed it seems!

There seem to be a few manuals without gear levers

For what it's worth I was undecided on the manual and even having driven both I told people I would be happy with an auto if that's all I could find

But having done a days driving today in my manual I am very happy I waited to get a manual....stick it out

Enjoying the new DB9?

Yeah the search function is annoying, makes me wonder if any autos are in fact manual ...

Will solder on, there is one at JCT17 that's been for sale for a long time as the interior is awful!

Still awaiting feedback from a dealer who told me they had one coming in on Friday ....

I sold mine five years ago, but it was a good one at the time:

OU56CRZ
Onyx Black/black leather
Sports pack
Red calipers.

Good luck!

Yes I am loving it I am both happy and sad to say.

You are definitely doing the right thing looking for a manual if you want that experience.

You even have me looking for manuals!

Keep us posted

Is it the wrong time of year or something?!

Not one email from my wanted and no new cars for the past few weeks 😔

I go on holiday next Sunday and it will be a pain to sort anything from where I will be !!

There seems to be one in the AMOC but pushing £50k ... The chaps on here "Blofeld" running DBS power and from BR went for that ...

Perfect car up for sale, went live last night.

Rang to arrange a 3rd party inspection, yes no problem ... Ring back ... Car sold.

For gods sake, absolutely no luck.

And the Pistonheads wanted advert is a waste of time.
