Hey!
Looking for some pictures of e34s for inspiration!
Was looking for a cheap runaround for the winter to join the two e46s and the mx5 (I did have a 1.2 Clio etc in mind...) but stumbled upon an ad for a 1995 525i manual for sale literally round the corner. The cheap runabout idea went straight out the window. Viewed it, it does need a few bits and pieces and welding for its MOT which has already expired. I'm completely torn right now as its not exactly a brilliant time for me to be buying a project as I've just started a new job and it's on the run up to xmas too. On the other hand it just seems like fate since its round the corner and I've been admiring it for the past 2 years while walking the dog! and I might always regret if I don't get it.
I'm hoping some pictures will convince me to go back and buy it....

Great cars but good ones are getting hard to find now, particularly Sport Models and the larger engined manual cars. Grab one while you can as prices are still firming...
I have two. A wagon that's gone through resto and currently having an M3 engine transplant and this low mileage genuine 535i Sport Manual.

My first E34, a minty fresh 286bhp, 295lb/ft 540i Touring with the six speed manual gearbox - one of just 62 cars in rhd and if it hadn't been written off by a dozy taxi driver I suspect I would still have it now and none of the Alpina madness I have inflicted upon myself...
After it had departed I set about finding another Touring and found this, a 340bhp, 295lb/ft 1993 M5 Touring in black, black, blackity, black, black. It was great while it lasted but it hadlived rotted by the Atlantic Coast for a few years and then the S38B38 did what they are prone to do and let go so off that went...
I replaced the M5 Touring with an E39 B10 V8 Touring but my interest in E34's had peaked on discovering there was one solitary Alpina B10 4.6 Touring made in rhd, with 340bhp and 355lb/ft and one of only 19 cars ever made. It had never been sighted, never photographed and no one ever knew if it still existed, but then it was spotted and I kept my promise to myself that I would always try and buy it if it came up for sale...

Love the E34, by far my fave 5 series.
This is my old car. Friend of mine had a V8 wagon E34 and I thought it just perfect. Late night bidding on eBay for this one for sale sight unseen and no reserve meant I picked up this 540 with a 6 speed manual for £1100 in about 2007. I bid not seriously expecting to buy it and didn't even check to see the result and actually only noticed when I got an email congratulating me on the winning bid. I then expected the seller to worm his way out of selling, but he said come on down ( Wiltshire , me in Kent ) and get. That almost worried me more as I then thought it must be a pile of poo if he was keen for me to collect asap.
I think I only had it a year or so , but daily drove it and took it to the Nurburgring, which was an interesting 3 day trip which resulted in one set of pads which were near new being near totally burnt away, plus the fact the previous owner ( I think he was something 65-70 years old ) had 3 different brands of cheap tyres fitted ( which also didn't last, surprise ! ) which made it 'interesting' in the wet with the traction control turned off.
It was actually one of the best trips I ever did and one of the most enjoyable too because the car was that good, which is a credit when the past 6 trips were in an E30 M3 which I spent tons on each time with fancy brakes , tyres and suspension thinking it would equal more fun and enjoyment.
The fun didn't end at the track either, the big E34 with a 4L V8 made for a great motorway cruiser and would regularly touch 159 mph ( indicated ) before the limiter kicked it and pegged it at 155mph.
Its another car I wish i could have kept, but one of the gears was a bit started to get a bit of a graunch unless you shifted very slow, the rust around the fuel cap started creeping and the fuel bills were stacking up and I got tempted by another daily driver and sold it.
I saw it for sale about 3 years ago with chavy black windows, a different set of ( worse ) wheels and it looked like council estate fodder.
This thread made me look it up. Last MOT ran out in 2014 and declared SORN now, so maybe someone out there has it and fixing it up ? I sure hope so, its an utterly fantastic car.
Edit
Ha ! Just Google image searched my pic and its on some Russian E34 site guide. Cheeky sods...
