Anyone here got a 2 Series Active Tourer?
Discussion
My company car is up for renewal and I'm considering the Active Tourer in either Sport or Luxury trim...
However, can anyone confirm for me whether it has cruise control in either of these two trims? It doesn't say it does on the spec sheets but then again I can't see it listed on the options list either?
The only thing I can think of is that it could be part of a driving pack or something and not an individual option?
Thanks in advance...

The thing with the 2 series is that its actually a MINI underneath (clubman I think). That means front wheel drive and rather bloated handling. That also means that, by being a MINI underneath, it probably won't have too much equipment.
It's most likely an option that BMW will charge a lot for, so look for a 3 series as they have them standard. Or the 1 series if you need it for a small family.

Comes with the "driver comfort package," details below :- However, can anyone confirm for me whether it has cruise control in either of these two trims? It doesn't say it does on the spec sheets but then again I can't see it listed on the options list either?

My father has one of these on order, Luxury trim. So if you have any questions let me know.
Fact it's FWD wouldn't appeal to me, but although it's a mini platform, I doubt it's similar driving experience to a Mini.
Dynamic cruise control stores and maintains any selected speed above approx. 30 km/h, even when going downhill – if necessary by means of active brake intervention. This function is particularly helpful when driving with a trailer. The system can be operated using the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel, so the driver can keep their hands on the wheel at all times. The desired speed is displayed as an adjustable mark on the speedometer. In “hand throttle” mode, the driver can use controls on the steering wheel to quickly and conveniently accelerate or slow down in two stages to adjust the set speed to suit the flow of traffic. The driver can override the function at any time. Depending on the lateral acceleration, the system slows down in curves to a more comfortable speed and then automatically accelerates again to reach the set speed. The cruise control feature is also integrated into the driving modes offered via the Driving Experience Control: In ECO PRO mode, cruise control is particularly fuel-efficient, while SPORT mode delivers the greatest possible acceleration.

"7-2-2016: BMW 2 Series Active Tourer seems to have bombed in the market. Reader purchased BMW 225i Xdrive luxury auto in March 2015. There is a lack of interest in the trade for this model. The best trade price he obtained is £20,699 for a car that had done 3,300 miles. BMW dealers are not wanting to buy and are struggling to sell some models."

Exactly as above I think plenty of reports from the journo's have killed these things littering it with "retention device" has probably not helped, the fact that my dealer use them to get around in and drop people off etc. probably just gives you about the same level of information as well.
Heck when I did my wheel change my aftersales manager called it a van to bring my Summer wheels back home...

To answer a couple of questions about my potential choice and 'petrolhead' worthiness...
This car will predominantly be used by my wife to ferry the kids around. I'm quite happy with my MK7 Golf R and my Yamaha MT-09 ta!
That's fine, it sounds like you should get a great deal on it and hopefully your wife won't mind running it for several years or your employer won't mind the depreciation. There may be better options though?

It's a company car that I'll have for 2 years. Could care about depreciation etc. All I have to do is put fuel in it mate. There may be better options though?
There are other options, was looking at a Kia Sportage for example...
I think what people are trying to tell you , is that the 2 series isn't very good.....
If you are after a practical family MPV, there are better options out there.
If the 2 series felt like a true BMW, I would be a buyer myself, but unfortunately it doesn't, it's just an exercise in badge engineering.

OH has a 218d Active Tourer. It replaced an Accord Tourer which was a big old lump of a car with very little room inside. The beemer has bags more room in the front and back.
She has it for mainly taking the daughter to irish dancing events and cheerleeding competitions all over the country. So runs to swansea, glasgow and newcastle etc.
Took it france last year and was a nice comfy place to sit thanks to fully adjustable seat and wheel.
Being an Ex BMW release car its loaded with toys.

Compared to a 3 series or compared to a Zafira?
I think the 2AT and 2GT drive better than their competitors in the 5/7 seat small/medium MPV sector, and being based on the mini platform it actually drives really well for what it is... but it's not a traditional rwd BMW.
If you're in the market for an MPV, drive the 2 series last. Then buy one.
Much nicer to drive than the Sportage!!

As he said... I'm talking the Gran Tourer, but competitors that would be considered as good would be the S-Max, and the VW - the S-Max is bigger and no cheaper, despite not having as good an engine, or auto box, and the VW is just a bit dull. the criticism of these things from those that wouldn't consider anything less than a 4 litre V8, Manual BMW is ridiculous - as if anyone buys one of these because they really want one.. An MPV is fit for purpose and hopefully you can buy something interesting in addition.I think the 2AT and 2GT drive better than their competitors in the 5/7 seat small/medium MPV sector, and being based on the mini platform it actually drives really well for what it is... but it's not a traditional rwd BMW.

And back to the original subject - the seats in the Luxury version are not as good as those in the Sport version, and it seems there are some deals to be done out there too.
