Afternoon all,

Thinking about buying this Cali. Do you have any pointers or is there something about this car that screams don't do it. I know very little about the California's.

I had a red Ferrari (430) before but for some reason don't think it works on a Cali. But I do LOVE the red interior. It won't be used for track work but mainly for cruising around the UK and some Euro jaunts.

http://www.nottingham.ferraridealers.com/en_gb/use...

I know it is not new enough for the 7 year servicing but hoping to get the first service thrown in plus an extra year or two's warranty. Should I wait till the end of the month and aim for a cash discount instead of servicing/warranty extras?

One last question - they all seem to ride very very high on the front and pretty high on the rear. Is this standard? It seems like the lift function has been left on?!

Thanks in advance

smile

The Cali was originally meant for Maserati (they couldn't afford to complete it at the time), so some brand snobs look down on it.

Personally I love the Cali and think its very much underated, that car is a beautiful combination too!

Ride height looks fine, exaggerated slightly by the way its parked but yes they do ride a little high as standard.

As with all dealers cash is no longer king, quite the opposite, the car will come with two years approved warranty anyway so unlikely to negotiate on that but depending on when the service is due thats certainly a potential bargaining point. Depends also if the car is dealer stock or SOR as the latter may well have more room for negotiation during quieter times of the year, if it's stock then the dealer will already have a write down allowance as its stock age increases, so unless it's been in stock a while no reason to to chop too much.

If you decide to go for it then good luck!

Yes along similar lines, Maserati could (did) complete the car but at the end of the development the unit cost would've crushed their pricing structure and likely flopped.
Ferrari wanted to introduce an 'entry level' car and on that part the California was a huge success worldwide both in sales volumes and the new customers it brought to the brand.

Brand snobs is the perfect description! Its a great car if not in the traditional Ferrari format of old, I think it found more acceptance towards the end of the production run before the M (Cali T) came along.

Perfect spec and colour combo for a Cali IMHO

A lovely car but that interior is questionable - I can't see many people wanting lipstick red so it's likely going to have a limited market if you want to sell it on I the future.

It looks a lot better to the natural eye than any photo's portray and contrasts the grey paintwork nicely. It livens the car up and works as a nice combo in the Cali more so than say a F430 or 458 where I think it may limit resell a bit more.
Personally I would have this over red and crema/nero on a Cali

Thanks for your thoughts gents.

For me, the Grey/Red combo is just perfect. TDF and Cream is also another favourite but perhaps more so on the V12 cars.

I see no reason not to buy that California. I owned a 2010 California for a couple of years and only sold it when I got a 458 spider. The Cali's great and under rated car. Mrs Wombat and I toured all over Europe in it and I still sometimes wish 'd kept it but I have 2 Ferraris and there is a limit as to how much cash I want tied up in cars.

Cheers bud. They already said 'oh, we sold it last week for 89k, it was just the chap's finance fell through...' rolleyes

Let's see what happens! I am usually shocking at negotiating for things I really want though...

I was going to say they will be flicking through the "101 ways to get that sale" book as you arrive...

I expect you will hear, and probably in this order:

Someone else coming to view after you.
A lot of interest in this car... you best be quick.
Its the cheapest spec / mileage car literally anywhere on the planet.
They don't discount at all, not ever, not even once.
They will throw in a tank of fuel, because they are being so nice to you, we don't normally even do that.
The DP was thinking of buying it himself, because its so cheap.
If you don't buy it its going to auction at the end of the week.
Let me speak to my manager.

biggrin

Be prepared to walk out the showroom if you don't get the deal you want and stick to your guns. They always come back to you

BTW think it looks great , including the interior ....not that I'm biased with red leather in my Lotus wink

Good luck.

That's stunning. I have the same colour combination on my 430 and you certainly don't tire of it - feels really special inside. Of course push them for the best possible deal but if that's the one you want and you can afford it then get it done. Remember that's it's often easier for them to throw in a free service or two rather than drop the price.
