Sorry for the wail link, but WTF?
Broad daylight in general publics view, a portable angle grinder and a total disregard for getting caught.
Good on the public for acually making a stand this time, Ive seen too many videos now of people just walking past. Hopefully one day, they try this with some hard bds bike who just happens to be coming back from the local baseball bat sale.....

Too easy for them in current state of Society.
Everyone is too terrified to do anything, and the thieves rely on that alone! and lets face it, anyone who does happen to be on their way back from a baseball bat sale and decide to take matters into their own hands will likely be punished to a much greater extent than the thieves!!

Total fking scrote low life scum!!!
Couple of interesting things:

1. Thieves described as 'white Mediterranean' appearance. What does that mean? Italian? French??
2. Scumbags on scooter with no number plate
3. £40k for a Ducati?? Perhaps the DM have their pricing a bit off, although nice Termi cans!
4. Parking a decent bike in London is one hell of a risk.....

Hope someone catches this scum.

And thats what boils my piss about the way the system is in this country, and thats why these thieving tts do this in broad daylight. No fear of retribution.
doesnt seem so in this case though thankfully. Hopefully they think twice about trying this again because of the publics actions.
Then again, Im secretely hoping they do TRY again, only to battered to death by a baying mob.

Just a thought: if anybody sees this happening in front of them, what about pinching the scooter ignition key?

It's an epidemic in London. Police don't do enough to try and sort it out, a few weeks of bait bikes and surveillance and they'd make a severe dent in the population of scumbags. At the very least, the police should be pulling every 2 up scooter they come across in the city to see if they're carrying the tools of their trade. The fact that these scummers can tool around on a scooter with no number plate with little fear of being caught is a joke.

Public did well in this case, but the majority walk past because nobody wants a claw hammer in the face.

And then charge them with what?

I agree with the sentiment, and as a London resident it continually boils my piss to hear these stories. And I agree the police aren't doing enough, but they are also hamstrung by layers and layers of bureaucratic bullst.

Nobody has mentioned the fact that although they didn't get the bike it ended up thrown on its side in the street anyway. So they will still have cost the owner money and a bunch of grief.
In that scenario I have a massive spanner handy in my van. I'd use it on them and damn the consequences. It's time there was a judgement on that. They think the only risk is being caught at it by the police at the moment because they hide their faces etc.
That needs to change

Not displaying a number plate, riding a stolen bike, no tax, no mot, no insurance....whatever they can. Just showing a presence would help as would taking names and addresses for a producer and getting these scum bags on their radar is a start.

At least people made an effort to stop them...How can the Police not catch these criminals? That's the third video I've seen with that black scooter in it!

Sounds like our old mate 'big-nose' Lewis Caruana, presumably Italian origin;

I saw the chap who stole my car in the shop the village shop the other week. He wasn't prosecuted of course, did time for something else and is out now. I ended up talking to him, I asked if he was sorry for what he did, he said he didn't do it, but was sorry. A different kind of criminal of course.

But what do you do? I caught him at the time, chased him to his house and collared him, and for my trouble I was advised by the call handler if I touched him I'd be in real trouble. The police are pleasant but ultimately only there to try and persuade me from doing him harm as they don't want to arrest me. His word was as good as mine apparently.

As much as it boils my piss it is just a piece of equipment which is insured. A diamond grinder to the face is pretty permanent, and taking the keys is a bit foolhardy at the least, especially for someone else's property. A knife always trumps strength, no matter how hard you think you are, and they always carry one. You also may not have your contact details on display, but your face is. You may even be on film.

I would challenge someone stealing a bike, but you shouldn't take chances with prosecution or injury for someone else's insured possessions.

This is the piss boiler.
A few year ago I ended up scrapping with a gang of around 10 scrotes outside my house who thought it would be a laugh to throw a brick through the upstairs window of my house, in which my 6 month old daughter was asleep.
Long story short I ended up ttting one kid with a good jab to the nose before the police turned up, or rather strolled up before they all legged it. After taking a statement I was warned by the Bib that they would unlikely be found unless the little tt I punched put an assault claim in aginst me!
So rather than pursue the little tts, I was given a crime reference number for the damage to the window and instead had to put up with these little tts returning several times to goad me while in the house.

I know the police have a hard job, but it was the attitude they took with me when they knew what the issue had been that drives me nuts with frustration on how the system benefits the criminals in this country.

That episode would have been immeasurably better if the street cleaner had shoved his cart in front of them as they came back past

If I was in a car & had the opportunity I would have rammed them, no questions about that whatsoever.

So now the police have evidence they are prepared to be violent, they have had enough warning about this gang for months.

There's another long thread on this already, started yesterday.

In answer to your question, they twoc the scooters in the first place, so pretty unlikely there is a key.

Maybe the Met aren't aware of the video and need it sent to them, everyday.

Or maybe they just like the soft option of camera enforcement of people that have their vehicles registered to them and don't cause a fuss, let alone get violent when caught...
