Clearly be extremely difficult for Porsche to identify the owner of that car and make sure he never gets another limited production run product......
Can't be many LHD 991Rs in Blackpool.

I don't think Porsche care..

That car looks wonderful but for the £500k it will probably go for, I'd rather fking eat it than spend it on a 911.

There are some stunning pics of cars in this Renllist thread http://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-gt3rs-and-911r/... Including a lot of PTS cars. In there someone has posted that there were 48 PTS cars of which 24 were for "family" i.e. Senior Execs etc and 24 for actual customers!

That's not how buyers of these things will look at it. They don't want 5 997s.

The question for most of them is what else will I do with all the spare cash I have.? If they have excess, and would rather have the car than another £500k on their bank balance, does it make a difference what the list price was?

I saw people laughing at how daft the prices paid for 993 Porsches at the last Sothebyts Lomdon auction. The competing bidders were both US billionaires, and the buyer is in the top 10 richest people in US. Does he care that he paid a few £00k over "market value", or does he care that he now owns the car that he had on his wall as a motivation to start his business?

I'll bet there are very few Rs have sold, or will sell, at £500k, but I'll bet even more, than none of the buyers at that price have to make a choice between owning a CGT (for example) or an R. They just have to make a choice on what is the latest trinket or experience they want to spend some cash on.

FWIW, I agree that the 997.1GT3 is the best value out there, and gives little away to the others, if you're keeping it, think yourself lucky - you don't have to pay exorbitant insurance premiums or labour or parts charges, which all seem to be linked to the price on the latest 'for sale' ad!
I see you got an R eventually footsoldier. My Office has relocated so I miss seeing your lastest acquisition lying around the New Town.

I thought other markets could get PTS. Just not in the UK for some reason.

Makes no difference these days anyway. Just get it wrapped in the colour you want.

Absolutely fking bonkers.

They should cap any Porsche at retail and any money over that goes directly to charity.

Its a fking joke. You could buy a 911, gt3 engine/suspension, gearbox, seats etc for less than that.

There is a rennlist thread about this car, the owner made himself look like a complete fool by stating he would never sell, they also manged to mis-space McQueens name on the plaque too

Also 996 RS looked very toppy at 392k, i think these auctions give the opportunity to a handful of individuals to inflate prices for their own gain

I think the above is a right statement. These are not big markets and if you have a bit of money (and balls) you can manipulate the market to your own benefit. Hexagon is a good example on BMW Z7 and 993 Turbos. You don't need to buy many of these in order to set a new "market price" and since credit is cheap these days you can hang in there longer. By every sale your inventory price goes up and you can lend against that. It has been seen before in financial markets and i think we are seing a fair bit of that in the high-end car market as well.

Doing the same with the 997 GTS now.

yes the old adage of money making money, although i do spend too much time wondering where the next'bust' will arise from. I'm sure there will be a few people out there wondering why they spent so much on metal and perceived desirability, although i do think Porsches with plaques are relatively safe from this correction

Tom hartley Jr has just bought one according to Twittersphere....clearly previous owner not bothered about being labeled a flipper as he posted a pic of the Build No. Maybe its the Paris car.

No, it's a different number.

Can't imagine a dealer paying €515k and hoping to make a profit on top.

Indeed. The extra you'd pay for a well cared for CGT all of a sudden looks like the bargain of the year

Or perhaps a 997.3.1 manual plus some Manthey upgrades (4.0 plus suspension anb brakes), plus a house, plus a private education for your son. PLus plus plus!

I suppose buyers at this price don't have to concern themselves with that!
