I've finaly found myself in a position to treat myself to my dream car, have loved the vantage since the very first time I see one drive by. I'm off to look at an meteorite 06 plate with 44k on the clock 2 owners from new, I've read plenty of threads regarding things to look out for so fingers crossed I should be fine. Says it has full service history which I hope to find details of a clutch replacement. will be mostly a weekend toy apart from heading to Le Mans 24hrs next year 😎👍 so running cost are not an isue. Have been reading people's thoughts regarding the V8s power, well I will think it's a rocket ship as my weekly chariot is a transit custom 😀
Will report back with my findings tomorrow eve, wish me luck although this is the first car so if not right I'll be back in the hunt lol

Cheers

Good luck with your search. I have had 2 Vantages, a 4.3 and now a 4.7, if you can stretch to it the 4.7 is an amazing difference to the 4.3. I love these cars and they are really fun to drive (mine is a manual which I prefer!!). It took me almost 2 years of looking to find my first one as there are a lot of dogs out there. My wife thinks I am very very fussy but when you are spending the kind of money we do on these cars it is best to be picky. I bought both of my cars from McGurks who are excellent. I have no links with McGurks other than as a very satisfied customer. Good luck with your search.

Congratulations on being in such a great position. Astons are like children (or girlfriends) your first one is always special.
A little word of caution. Don't be carried away by the first one you try out. There are many out there and if there are any niggling doubts you may be better walking away.
Have fun in your quest to find the perfect car for you.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Well this was my first time at looking to be the proud owner of an amazing Vantage, I'm afraid to say I did not even bother to take it for a drive. I asked over the phone about the service history and was told it was all there, invoices and all, well if you call a V5, MOT certificate invoices then I guess it was lol. The service book had 9 stamps which I guess is what to expect, although it's only a 2 owner car it has not been looked after very well, there is a small crack on the near side front wing right above the wheel, paintwork is pretty poor, reckon it's been cleaned by the local polish scratching booth lol. So on to the next one 😀 hope to arrange a veiwing tomorrow to go see this little beauty

You will get to see Matt if you view the McGurk car, he is a breath of fresh air in that he is not a pushy salesman at all. I got 12 month warranties with my Vantage which is great for peace of mind.

Funnily enough I didn't have a great experience at McG. No deal to be had and the salesman took the take it or leave it attitude., which was crass and I wouldn't buy if there isn't a deal! Car was very nice, service history there but no other invoices. I told them to shove it as there are plenty out there and bought one which is a peach, all invoices and 5 grand cheaper!........all that said I am a stroppy bugg*r when it comes to business!

06 is 2006

In the UK since 2001 we change the plate twice a year and it follows this pattern...

Sept 2001 51 plate

March 2002 02 plate

September 2002 52 plate

March 2003 03 plate

etc etc

right up to 2016 with 16 in the March and 66 in the September smile
