OK, so deposit paid and due for delivery in April 2017. I've gone for C2 GTS model and my heart is saying manual, and head is saying PDK. I'm not a big fan of PDK or any semi-auto boxes etc, but keep getting feedback that PDK will ensure an easy sale if I decide to move on after a year. Any thoughts, knowledge much appreciated! I'm probably going for manual unless it will lose me a fortune.

Mixed reviews on the 7-speed Spanish gearbox.

I'd go PDK, and I'm a manual 'box fan.

Thanks - are there any reviews on PH of the 7-Speed box? Would be good to look into these.

Thanks CMoose. I'm coming out of an F10 M5 and whilst I loved the car, I was bored by the auto. I've got a 981 Spyder for the analogue thing. Re the 911, I just fancy a new 911 and this is the only new one that attracts me at the moment.

I've driven the later 991.1 GTS Manual and the 7 speed is very nice, wouldn't have a problem with it...

I've ordered a 991.2 GTS and I'm going for a pdk. My present car has a pdk gearbox and in manual mode it's fun. However, it is used on a daily basis involving some driving in town and congested road, my experience is that it is a very good compromise.

I'm waiting on info for build slots at the moment, however, if I proceed it will be Mexico blue (C2)with a PDK.

I've no idea how much time you've spent with PDK, but given your comments above, I don't understand why you'd go for anything other than manual.

(Within reason) there's no point in speccimg the car for the next owner!

OP If you have a deposit down try and get your invitation for PEC...I would think they have a manual and a PDK gearbox there for you to try.

Here's a couple of short pieces Chris Harris wrote when he ran a manual 991.1 GTS

I've got a manual 997 GTS and I'll be honest I am not sure which way I would go...in some ways I think a manual box suits the N/A engine more. I think a nicely specified manual 991 GTS in GT Silver would make a great purchase and whilst it won't appeal to all come resale time there are plenty of enthusiasts who will want it.

I am a manual only Porsche buyer but I just can't get my head round the 7 speed manual converted pdk box! Why can't they use the 6 speed in the R ? My thinking is 991 onwards have been designed with pdk in mind so if I was buying a 991 it what have to be pdk but that ain't happening!
Best advice is drive both and see what you prefer.

PDK. pains me to say, but manual in a 991 ...no.
There will be next to zero with manual spec, residual suicide too. They sold 7 manual 997 GTS in the U.K.
You want stick, go 997.

Thanks. Agree that we should buy the car you want, I just want to make sure it's not idiocy come resale. Sounds like it's very much 50:50 and that's fine. It's manual for me I think.

I'm afraid I do. A few thousand ?. The 599 is on another level.
Depends on numbers made. Agree re limited number runs but my point still stands, the 991 simply doesn't suit stick IMO.
Supply is limited for a reason, one main reason being the PDK version of any car in the same class or above, will trounce the stick on track. Porsche don't like that.
Residuals will be hit and hard. The 997, I would have stick in an instant over PDK in a GTS 997 or Cayman, but then I don't track regularly.

Residuals factor, in any purchase to the vast majority. Ignoring them is a luxury of the uber wealthy or the trust fund Charlie, both of which generally ignore later Porsche in favour of the prancing horse or the bull.
