Can I upgrade to Emirates Business Class at check in desk?

Hi All,

I'm planning a trip to Dubai during the Easter Holidays, will be doing ZRH-DXB with Emirates, I'm reluctant to book Biz class straight away as I may be travelling with a friend who will want to travel Economy, however I don't want to leave it too late to book my tickets especially with it being Easter Holidays.

If I book an Economy return ticket (whilst they're still a half decent price), is it possible to upgrade either one or both of the legs to Biz at the check in desk?

Anyone done this before?

It's possible to upgrade if there are seats available.

Chances are with Emirates that a week or so before your flight, if there is availability, you will get an email offering you to upgrade for a discounted price. Last few times I've flown with them I've had emails ahead of each leg so you can choose which parts you want business, eg if you happy with economy for the portion to Dubai, but the connecting flight onwards (which may be a longer leg) you want Business.
