Just recently discovered, back in the 1990s, that an Aston Martin DB5 convertible made an appearance in Coronation Street. Apparently this was around 92 when the character Doug Murray appeared as a mechanic working for Mike Baldwin. I think Doug finally fled the street in the DB5. Can't find much in the way of videos, but did find this:

http://coronationstreet.wikia.com/wiki/Episode_346...

Would be nice to find the episode/s in question with the DB5 in it, but I doubt I'll find anything on youtube.

I wonder how many people remember this?

Speaking of Corrie, I also came across a clip on youtube from 1997 of Don Brennan trying to run Mike Baldwin down in a red MG Midget, owned by Mike's wife. Brennan slams the car into the wall of the viaduct resulting in an explosion. Then there's the more recent episode with the series 3 E-Type roadster.

That'll be one of the 35 "short chassis" volante's. Very rare....

I remember my Dad calling me in to watch it at the time. I canot recall if it was a convertible, but I do remember the man with the moustche and NI accent saying "now that is a motor car..."

I remember getting annoyed they didnt show much of it. You could tell it was an Aston and they showed the engine, but I dont think they showed it moving.

According to someone I know who vividly remembers the Aston, the final scene showing Doug Murray doing a runner, the car he uses was the DB5. I do recall some kind of prestige or sportscar being driven when the character makes his exit, but don't recall it being a DB5. I've heard Mike Baldwin did own other motors during that time, including a Jaguar XJS.

Was the Aston owned owned by Mike Baldwin or was he just looking after it for someone?.

Would be worth asking over on the Corrie section on TV, film and radio. Whacky Racer and others have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the series biggrin

No - its is a DB5 Convertible, not a short chassis Volante. Apart from the registration number which makes it too early for a short chassis the rear lights show it is a regular DB5 Convertible. The short chassis Volante has Triumph DB4 type rear lights not the three separate units like the DB5 Convertible. Still rare enough as one of 123........

I seem to remember Audry (Roberts) driving around in a Midget in the series a few years ago? Recently an Alfa 4C ? has been used

Likely because noone has found the episode in question with the Aston in it and added it to imcdb, but it certainly did appear in the soap sometime during 92/93 when the character was present. There's no mention of the Midget owned by Audrey either, or the Midget owned by Alma.

Here's a clip of the Midget:

If anyone could track down any clips or even full episodes with the Aston Martin in it, or any screenshots, it would be greatly appreciated.

I couldn't imagine Alf Roberts owning an MGB, because wasn't he a rather large chap?. Maybe he did own one but I just can't remember it. Stopped watching that awful show years ago.

That screenshot appears to be taken from a Granada Plus (now defunct channel) broadcast, so I assume someone somewhere must have the recorded episode (can't find anything on youtube from that time period: Dec 92-June 93 I think the Doug character appeared and what exact date the AM appeared I haven't the foggiest). Quite a number of vehicles from the soap have been added to the imcdb page, but not the Aston though.

Likely car has been used in other notable film or TV productions.
