As title, my questionable choice of hobbies mean that I need to lug a bike and a wakeboard around quite often (not at the same time). Bike can be racked but a wakeboard is a bit of an off thing to have to carry around. It's 143cm x approx 40cm. Plus bindings on it too. I could put it in the passenger seat but not so great if I want to take a +1.

Obvious choice is an E93 or an A5 and sacrifice a small amount of driving pleasure but just thought I'd check.

And the Mercedes SL scares me.

Boxster? The bonus is that it has two boots and that the roof can go up and down with the rack in place (I think).

A chimaera has a handy space behind the front seats.. Width might be your problem.. 1865mm including mirrors so not sure if the internal space would be down to 1.4.

Boot is reasonably big too.. The roof fits in but again not sure if this is less than 1.4m

Also, you may be looking for something more modern

Never seen that before but it doesn't appear that you can get that / similar to fit a 987 which is a shame.

TVR would be a great laugh but as it'd be used daily and for work trips occasionally I couldn't do it without a backup Yaris unfortunately.

XK? 6 series? 8 series? CL?

Admittedly they are 2+2s though , and only the former two will let you drop the roof.

6 Series is on the list alongside E93 / A5 option route.

I spent a while researching bike racks to fit my 987 and the only I could find photos of was a Saris Bones. Depending on the type of biking you do, I reckon a light road bike would fit ok but my mtb was too long and too heavy. By the time I'd clamped it all down and was ready to set off I noticed the rack was making depressions in the plastic bumper so quickly removed it, returned it and gave up.

Did the 987 change vastly from the 986? If I could find a 986 rack cheap enough, I'd take a risk that any size difference could be resolved with spacers.
