last year I had the basic Videopass for motogp watching. Good points: good commentary, spoiler free, previous races available, chromecast allows watching on the tv. Bad points: needs good Internet connection, not as convenient as having it directly on the TV, spoiler free not foolproof.

It's now time to decide what to do this year and I can't decide. I'm not locked into home tv or broadband. I don't watch sport at all really except for motogp, but I watch it all - warm up, practice, the lot.

What do you have and why? For me cost is a factor, but not the only factor although I hear BT will be charging £3.50 a month for BT sport shortly which seems to be taking the piss.

I have the sports package on Virgin, so get BT sport through that, but also have the basic MotoGP pit pass thingy to watch it online if I'm away
I prefer all the Motogp 'other shows' they have online such as qualifying coverage and the rewind bits, but like to watch the race through BT sport, if that makes sense
The various shows they do on MotoGP Pit pass on the technology etc , I find are barely watchable as I can't stomach the guy that presents it called Dylan Grey. I'm not sure what I don't like about him, but I just can't watch it

All the big players have recently put their prices up, not just BT.

It's BT sport HD with BT for me. I think the coverage is great. Yes I know KH gets a bit excited at times and can make the odd mistake but I can just about forgive that.

All sessions are covered and easily recorded. I can also use the app anywhere in the world to watch live if I am not at home. BT TV is good enough for the other channels I watch and the fibre broadband is fast enough for my needs, 40-50Meg.

Refuse to use bt anything due to long term harassment by their nasty scam a while back (BT customer street).

Had paid for motogp online for a few years but frankly their systems are so shonky i might just scam it from now. Despite Informing them of this, and letting my long term account lapse, they seem uninterested and unwilling to offer more than cutnpaste pleb tech advise.

Have no objection to paying- work hard and just want to relax with my msport at the end of the day - but want what I pay for to work properly

£3.50/month seems OK to me. I watch Champions League, Moto GP & the occasional big Premier League game. Every now & then they have a good biography documentary on some star or other. Quality is so-so via Chromecast; I think my first generation device probably needs replacing as it can't quite keep pace with faster action in HD, although BT Infinity is easily fast enough. Moto GP commentary has been debated at length, but I think its no worse than other sports, although Suzy Perry is defo past her sell by date & needs to be replaced by a newer model. I quite liked Jennie Gow's penchant for footwear & tight dresses, but her presentation style wasn't the best getmecoat

MotoGP.com for me but I'd love to smash a brick in Nick Harris' face with the amount of times he gets things wrongs and bumbles away. He will mention a rider, and it's the wrong fecking rider! Useless. Other than that the MotoGP site is alright with the extra bits on behind the scenes.

I'm on my third year watching on BT sports, i pay them direct as i have a Sky package.

They try to get me to pay £25 odd per month at the annual renewal but i've told them i'll cancel as only watch motogp and twice offered it to me for £10 odd per month.

To be honest i don't mind as i'm a football fan too so watch the footy as well.

Its worked well with the app, twice i've been away on holiday and spent most of the day watching via the app on my laptop

Is it available later in the week on ITV4 or something? I might have just dreamt this, might just be BSB.

I currently watch it through BT Sport as an addition to my Virgin package at about a million pounds a month. When the contract is up (mid season) I'm definitely looking at a different / cheaper options. As I'm not a football lover (to put it mildly) I don't even look at the sports channels for 3 months.

I really must be less of a luddite and steam it somehow.

That said - I squirreled away the two day Valencia test on record and that's been my background bikes today as I've been doing my tax return.

I'm tagging onto this thread instead of starting another one.

I've just been told my BT monthly bill will go up to £54 for broadband and MotoGP. I also get a phone which we don't need, football and other sports which don't interest me, a TV box which I don't use etc. It seems very expensive, I hate the fact I can't record the races and then watch them in the right order on Sunday evening* and I can't seem to watch the catchup a few days later on their 'spoiler-free' page without seeing who won the race :grrr:

But when I looked for other ways of getting unlimited 16Mb/s broadband and MotoGP I can't find anything better.

Any ideas?

  • is there such a thing as an HDMI video recorder?

Assuming you're ditching BT, MotoGP pass would get my vote.

So I'm going to be paying £650 for 16Mbit/s unlimited and BT Sport.

So John Lewis (Plusnet) at £22.50/month unlimited plus £178 for MotoGP would be £470-ish, and save me £200 a year. What did I miss?

The price of watching MotoGP has become untenable for me. We used to get it through our btphone/broadband package but bt have been taking the piss with thier prices. £60 a month for a phone line we don't use for calls only broadband and by sport thrown in for 'free'.

Finally sacked bt off the other month and moved to sky after a bit of bartering with them saw us paying £30 less than bt.

It's a shame as I have watched MotoGP since the 2 stroke days (pre MotoGP). I have resigned myself to trying to blag a mates bt login details so I can watch it online.

I ended up renewing my basic videopass and paid €99. Happy to be able to see all the testing, team launches etc and I like to watch the previous year's race at the start of each race weekend.

I've been using the basic fireplace for 3 years. But it seriously pissss me off when their servers can't cope with the number of users and crashes/ freezes. Valencia 2 seasons ago was the worst, missed the start and the first couple of laps, along with buffering throughout the race. Tried complaining but they don't give a st

Following advice on here last year I used tunnelBear to buy my videopass so I could get the basic one, not the multiscreen they're foisting on UK users. Much cheaper.
eta: just checked. €140 for a new user for the season

MCN has announced that there won't be a highlights programme on ITV4 this year and they don't know if anyone else is taking over.
