Evening all,
My better half is looking at a TFSI 1.4 A1 and was wondering if there is anyone that has had one that could possible give us their experiences, just to add We are looking at a manual transmission with the 17" alloy wheels.
Thanks
Les

We've had a couple of 1.2 TFSI A1s and liked them. No reliability issues at all and both cars had the 5-year service packs so literally cost nothing to run. Ride is a little on the firm side with 17s not overly so and definitely adds to the looks!
Are you looking at new or used?
Hi Va1oAre you looking at new or used?
We are looking at minimum a 16 model year and the 150hp 1.4 with S-line spec. Used is what we are after because a 1yr old for example saves a chunk of cash.
Nice choice, I haven't tried that engine in an A1 but in the Golf/ A3 it's excellent. Not really much to look out for on these but keep an eye on equipment levels and options. Not all of them have things like Cruise or Auto Lights/ Wipers specified which you'd expect on a car of this price.

I have seen that some that have been built are limited on options, we are going to test drive on Saturday and go from there, then we have the job of getting rid of a 59plate clio Dci with 96k on the clock Gio G said:
My other half drives one. The 125hp version. Great little car, with nice levels of equipment and well put together. The S-line version does have very stiff suspension, however ours is on 18" wheels. I suspect the 150hp version will be a pocket rocket.
G
I have heard about the ride will be a little stiff, but this shouldn't be a problem.G
We have a test drive booked for Saturday so really looking forward to it and hope we can sign on the dotted line.

We have our spec that we would like, but is there any user feedback on the standard audio, would we need to upgrade to the AUDI one, unfortunately the Bose will be over budget.
thanks again.
Hi Les, I actually had a brand new A1 loan car when my A5 went in for a service yesterday. It was a 5 door with the 150hp, s-tronic. It was a right hoot to drive around and had plenty of power. The standard audio systems are pretty good. This one had the optional armrest, which I reckon is a must! It had 17" wheels on the s-line suspension, was much softer riding than the wife's car.thanks again.
Also I believe you can buy the service packs on the A1, that is probably worth looking at..

That's good to hear G, hopefully they have the upgrade one to demonstrate us. Also I believe you can buy the service packs on the A1, that is probably worth looking at..

We are going to get the armrest on the options list, also going to ask prices for service packages while we are there.
I have owned a 1.4 (122) S-Line manual since launch day, Nov 2010. Due to incorrect spec, that car was swapped in March 2011 for the car I still own.
I did go to town on the spec, which thinking back, does make me shudder (ie: almost standard spec S1 price). The car has been nothing but a pleasure to own. It is very comfortable on long journeys, and by “long” I mean a return London to Madrid and more recently last summer two return trips to France (Bordeaux & Toulouse). I have no experience of any other spec A1s as I never go for a loan car when mine’s in for a service/MOT.
I went for the service pack when ordering the car, which expired last year. Car’s booked in next week for service no. six and an MOT. I have the standard 17” wheels and find suspension fine.

Thanks for taking your time to post, I shall show the wife this and I'm sure it will put a smile on her face.I did go to town on the spec, which thinking back, does make me shudder (ie: almost standard spec S1 price). I currently have the a1 1.6 tdi not quite the same as the one you want. I was 19 when I got it so low insurance was a must. Is a great little car plenty of power for the size of it. Looks great for the image sazzy. Had it for 3 years and nothing has gone wrong apart from the fuel filler cap (twice)
Would recommend it to any one after a small good looking hatch.

Going down tomorrow for a test drive, had a couple quotes on CarWow and the black edition with 4 more options is coming out slightly cheaper then a standard s-line with the options we wanted on that one.
so got a price we know we can buy for, let see if our local dealer can match.
thanks for all the input people

Well the wife signed her car today with a delivery date expected mid March, just in time for tax changes for the 1st April.
We went for a black edition in the end and added a couple extras.
Thank you for all your assistance with info etc and sure will update once we have delivery of the car.
