Has anyone got a Samsung A ( I think that's what they call it) I cannot find any reviews for it. My iPad 2 is approaching 6 years old and is starting to get slow and lock up every so often. While an iPad would be the usual replacement I don't think I can justify spending £500 upwards on one.

Is there anything else I should consider ?

Yep, bought one a couple of months ago, coincidentally to also replace our iPad 2 which had become very slow and prone to freezing.

Very happy with it. Nice screen and decent battery life. It's perfect for email and browsing and the odd game. We paid £170 in the Currys black Friday sale but I see it's back up to £220. Still good value.

Make sure you are shopping for the right version, there are several. It's the 2016 version with the 10.1 inch screen you want, there is an older 9.7 inch version too, still available that doesn't get great reviews.

Also bought a Galaxy Tab A 10.1 from Currys before Christmas (£160). Bought to augment/replace the Fire HD7 I was given for Christmas a few years ago, mainly for the bigger screen, more apps, two cameras (although it's a bit cumbersome to use as a camera), and general Android stuff like screen mirroring.

Seems to work well. Not much storage (16gb), but that is more than enough for my needs.

Mirroring (to Roku devices in our case) is impressively simple.

So far - recommended.

The wife bought one and subsequenty ebay'd it a few months later as it was pretty poor; slow, would freeze poor screen.

She replaced it withat Galaxy Tab S2 8" which is in a different league (but then it is twice the price).

If you don't want to spend big bucks try and source a Galaxy Tab S 9.7", they have now been replace by the Tab S2, the Tab S is fantastic, I'm typing on it now, have had it 2 years and it has been faultless.

I had a quick play with the s2 and quite liked it. There are rumours of the s3 appearing soon so hopefully they will drop the price of the s2 and make it a bargain
