Mega miles GT3
Discussion
I like the concept (assuming it's possible) of the DSC box being able to make the suspension passive, i.e. use the box to set the damping stiffness to a static setting. you could then program in, say, 2 static settings for dry/wet track work and a default active setting for the road.

WIW my 16 year old 996 turbo was in at CG earlier this month and all four shocks were original and still bang on performance parameters. Apparently, Chris tells me the quality of Bilstein fitted to the GT and turbo cars is higher than that of lesser models...
Only issue was that mine needed a front o/s top mount bearing.
Not what Chris told me when he replaced two knackered dampers on my GT3 (at 20,000 miles and 4 years) ...... Only issue was that mine needed a front o/s top mount bearing.

To make that system work for a proper racer you need the DSC tractive coil overs which work 16x quicker than the Bilsteins otherwise you will find there is too much lag between what the box is telling the OEM dampers what to do. ff.
The reaction time of the OEM Bilstein damper is supposed to be 0.1 seconds. I think that goes down as 'fast enough'.... Tractive I'm sure make a better damper than Bilstein but it should be for the price. Personally if I were forking that much for the tractives I'd go the whole hog with a top quality passive damper setup.isaldiri said:

No idea. All I know is all four of mine tested well within the parameters for 'working' 996 turbo dampers. So I was happy enough.
How many miles was that at Dig ?Pretty sure 996 turbo dampers aren't rebuildable anyway...
I don't think it'd necessarily been tracked very much, prior to my ownership, so maybe dampers had led a relatively sheltered life, but he was sure they were original OEM items. I guess they could be new to my car, but secondhand at some point, you never really know with a car that's had a few owners, until you've been right through it.
Saw this and it reminded me of this thread.
I remember the 997 owner had a 996 before.
