It's been a while since I've seen a car in bricks or indeed heard of anyone getting theirs stolen.

I've just got some pretty desirable 21" wheels on my car today and was wondering whether it was worth putting a second set of locking wheel nuts on there?

Are you planning on going to Liverpool?

You're only suppose to use one locking nut per wheel aren't you?

Must still happen, see far too many Vag cars with Bentley and Porsche wheels that must be worth more that the car

Back when the current shape fiesta was new in '09 my friend had a brand new Zetec S. He woke up to find the whole car on bricks. This was in North London.

It does still happen unfortunately!

Well I live near Manchester too and I haven't had any wheels nicked of my cars.

I have had two set on fire though.

Certain types will do and possibly someone after a new set of tyres but generally I think the scrotes generally dont have cars or the cars come with alloy wheels anyway.

Anything "Dub scene" or rare may be nicked.

I think its lot lower risk than it used to be.

I do away with locking wheel nuts as theives can remove them by and large anyway, have never had any nicked but have had multiple occurences of the nuts rounding off, lost keys and general agro with them.

Lost the spare off an RRS a couple of days before Christmas & a week before it went back to the lease company!!

Station car park overnight, they cut the wire in the winch & it just falls out apparently.

Made for an expensive Christmas party too.

Almost exactly the same happened to my friend on his RRS at a train station in Enfield.

Don't know him 1st hand but a friend of a friend got hit last year after leaving his car parked in Paisley (near Glasgow airport). Picked a quiet spot to pop his car so he could go away for 2 weeks. A mk2 Seat Leon Cupra R. Came back to a smashed driverside window and the entire car stripped, wheels, front and back bumpers, front seats and various other bits of trim.

I can remember him saying his insurance was getting uppity because he left the car in a st area (considerably higher insurance group than his registered address)

So you think all these are nicked? The vag car owners I know generally spend a fortune getting these wheels to fit and refurbished
A set of Bentley wheels are rarely over £800 from ebay. Porsche split rims much more but they're still worth that when sold on afterwards too. So if you think about it they are free

Anyway it's a lot less common than it used to be.

Local Audi dealer got done before xmas, £40k+ claim on their insurance.

The tea leafs just order a few different locking wheel nut keys (there aren't many apparently) from different parts depts and hit a few dealers over a couple of hundred miles radius.

They were pretty easy to track down apparently, using the usual methods but by the time they were the wheels were long gone. I suppose a few dozen Black Edition alloys with brand new tyres are going to sell like hot cakes at your more interesting local neighbourhoods.

Desirable wheels will always be in danger of being nicked. Scabby old alloys are a pretty safe bet.

I take it that nobody on the RRS manufacturing design team ever had a Saxo VTR/S then?
