Relogged into my lastfm and it's even more trash now than it ever was. Items dont even play now.

Whats a similar web service, no downloads, I can stream music, and it will help me find new music of a particular genre.

I listen to everything, rap, hip hop, classical, dance etc. So i want to find new stuff across the whole spectrum. A lot of artists I like only 1 or 2 of their songs, but like a lot of similar songs of the same style.

Suggestions?

That would probably be Spotify.

Could check out bandcamp. It's organised by genre to the nth degree. If you find someone you like, or already know, they often have a section of bands that *they* like, and so on.

Spotify has a artist radio channel that can lead to new stuff.

It's not as good as the old Lastfm radio though

Spotify for me. I have found lots of artists through it, and it lets you quickly check out a band you've heard of, or maybe is playing a gig locally and you're thinking of checking out.

You don't have to have premium for doing that, either - so the cost is £0.

I used LastFM a lot , closest thing I have used is Spotify. I use it everyday and couldn't be without it. I pay for the premium service and have it on 4/5 of my other devices too.

Whatever you use to listen to music get it to scrobble to Last FM. You can then still use the Last FM site to get suggestions but then listen to them on the music service of your choice.

Spotify is probably the obvious choice as Last FM has links that will play in Spotify built in.

To a certain extent Spotify will do some of that on its own but Last FM is better.

I listen to Soma FM which has a number of internet radio channels. Rather than doing anything clever to recommend stuff you like, I find their channels are pretty good at playing the non-mainstream and more eclectic music and I've found quite a few new artists from their playlists.

Google Play.

Spent an hour or so selecting artists I like and have discovered loads of new bands this way, and re-discovered some old stuff.

Use the "selected for you" or an artist's radio station.

Its like Apple Genius playlists but one beyond.

Spotify here too, though my truck came with Pandora - if you get that in the UK I think it's better than Spotify for discovering new stuff. Still prefer Spotify though.
