I believe that I had a good rapport with a local OPC for over a year when I was wanting a Cayman GT4, however not able getting a reservation and the news of the next Cayman being 4 cylinders and the Cayman GTS could be two years away and the fact the 2nd market for GT4's were selling for over £100K I decided to go for a 911.2 4S.

I configured my spec based on my budget and negotiated a price with the local OPC, to the point they would not drop any further 2.5% discount, I then contacted another relatively local OPC and played the two dealerships against each other to get best discount (differing franchise). I managed to increase the discount with my local OPC a further 2.5 % to which I was happy with and paid my deposit (back in March last year) I also informed the OPC that I wanted delivery not until September. A allocation came through and I took delivery in October last year. (The discount on the car was based list price and not via any finance deals). I Also think it is important on making an offer for a new car based on the near end of the OPC sales quarter to ensure they make their sales targets.

FYI - I was told by my OPC that Porsche are threatening dealerships penalties in offering discounts! I went to another relatively local OPC and asked about discounts and I received a pompous reply saying “why would we offer a discount on a 911.1 CS4!” I promptly walked out. A few days I later I got a phone call from their Sales Manager regarding my recent visit and my interest in a C4S, however I informed him that they had lost the sale and I have gone elsewhere!

So I got 5% off the total price including 15.5K of optional extras.

Now a very happy 911.2 CS4 owner with a near GTS spec'd car! (if you exclude the -0.5 sec 0-62 mph). With the money saved I got the car fully detailed by a professional detailer and treated with Xpel Ultimate film bumper to bumper! Also I asked the OPC not to fix the front number plate bezel and applied a self adhesive number plate instead after the film had been applied.

Well done on the discount! From what I've read and heard the allocations are fewer this year so discounts will be harder to come by - and in the case of the new GTS models non existent.

What colour did you choose - I'm obsessed with colour at the moment, can't make my mind up!

I am with you, all my cars I have bought have been have been in a Metallic blue so it had to be Sapphire Blue, As for the interior I went for Graphite Blue leather, with Interior package carbon. I know its as bit left field but I love it, I did not want back as its too dark (and I did not want a sun roof) and the two tone Graphite Blue/ Chalk for me is impractical.

Great car. Graphite blue seems like a really interesting colour, it looks very different between various pictures and videos online - does it really change that much with the light conditions, or is it just the way it photographs? Oh and did you go with the darker tint on the rear window to go with the sunroof, or leave standard?
It does look different in different light but yep the camera exaggerates it slightly. I do like the variation though...

No rear tinted windows...I do like the dark glass roof.

And thank-you...I love it and can't resist finding excuses to drive it!

The graphite blue leather, does not photograph very well, It looks much better seeing it in person. Fortunately was able to see the colour when I did my Experience day at Silverstone and just loved it before my spec was in lockdown. In the configurator it's it much darker, in real life It's more like pale slate in colour.

No I did not go with any window tints, I did consider it but it would have meant I would have gone over my budget. If anything I would have gone for the carbon gearstick and Graphite blue leather gaiter.

The photos below I confess dont sell the Graphite blue leather that well as you say the colour in photos is exaggerated.

Great looking car! Those wheels set it off too, they would be my choice (whatever the paint colour) if I wasn't going for a GTS.

So.......

Have managed to get a best offer of 3% off list from a local OPC - not conditional on finance nor able to squeeze any more on speccing more options

Looking to order C2 with PDK and he following spec:

- Agate Grey Metallic
- Black leather interior
- 'PORSCHE' and '911' logo painted Exclusive
- ParkAssist (front and rear)
- Electrically folding exterior mirrors
- Electric slide/tilt glass sunroof
- Privacy glass (rear window) Exclusive
- Sports exhaust system
- 20-inch Carrera S wheels
- Wheels painted in satin black (complete) Exclusive
- Cruise control
- Automatically dimming mirrors with integrated rain sensor
- GT Sport steering in Leather
- Sports seats (4-way, electric)
- Seat heating
- Smoking package
- Floor mats
- Passenger footwell storage net
- Steering column casing in leather Exclusive
- Lid of storage bin with logo Exclusive
- deviated stitching to dash, doors and seats

Still not 100% decided and, whilst I know it is my decision ultimately i'd like to hear the PH comments and views on the spec and my indecision...

Colour - Agate is my 'safe' choice but i've had a few grey cars now and it can look a little brown in some light conditions. Also considering Graphite Blue which I really like but might be a bit of a fashionable colour i'd later regret? It looks great under darker light but not sure about it in bright sun/lights. Night blue also on my shortlist but might be as bad as black for swirls and showing the dirt (but I could save a few ££ as wouldn't get the black wheels/badges)

Sport Chrono - I doubt i'd get much use and the spec is already over budget but is it worth it?

Sports Seats Plus - don't really like the plastic backs on these, and worried it would get scratched dup when carrying luggage behind the seats. I like the extra bolstering around the legs but not sold on the shoulder wings for comfort on long trips (and I'm a fairly slim guy!)

As I said, ultimately my choices and very nice problems to have, but interested in the thoughts of you all and if there are any glaring omissions from my list

Looks a great spec...I'm loving mine. So many people comment on the colour (graphite blue) and say it's the nicest colour they've seen on a car. I thought it might be a bit more marmite, but not so far (or people are being polite). Main thing is I love it, and how it varies according to the light.

You've done well with the 3% there. I picked mine up, a physical car, last Friday and they absolutely wouldn't give anything off. That compared to nearly 10% off my first 991.1. Apparently the allocations this year are very small.

Have you thought of GT Silver if the Agate is too dull? Mine has the black satin wheels and the glass roof and it breaks the colour up nicely.

I've had two 991.1 which both had SC and so has this 991.2 so can't comment on one without it.

Bose is the obvious one missing. Again always had it and as extras go it's not too ridiculous.

I really dislike Graphite Blue and I'm not keen on Agate Grey (though much better than GB), but you really should see them in person and choose what you like. Agate is a reasonably popular choice and resale should be fine, GB who knows?

I might go for standard sport seats rather than sports plus, but get whatever you find most comfortable. Also although a popular option I could live without sports chrono, I might go for the Bose but haven't really lived with the standard so ? (I have chrono and Bose in my Boxster)

I had a good look at GT silver in the OPC and it is a great silver but not for me

Easy to find Agate Porsches to have a look at in real life, much harder to find GB and Night Blue

Found a GB thread over on Rennlist - this one looks stunning

Graphite blue gets lots of compliments and attention....and the variation of the colour in different light is really attractive. It's a 'different' colour but still quite understated.

I love mine, but go for what you want...

Owning a 911 is a joy and you should always go with your heart, I believe.

Agate has a brown tilt to it that I never really liked. Atlas grey from the 997 era was a much nicer colour with a lot of depth. It's a bit like the platinum silver they had on for a little while that had a beige hint. Really not nice at all and replaced by the current silver. Rather interestingly if you are a Porsche nerd is that for the first time in a while GT Silver is not a special order colour but amongst the standard metallic.

There is a brand new (del mile 17 plate) here for 3% behind list

Other than what's in the ad, I know nothing more about it......but I would assume it needs to be a little bit cheaper

Where exactly have you placed the self adhesive number plate?
