- powerkitted 991.1 3.4 or 3.8 unit, or possibly even a lower power version of the GT3 engine
- 50kg
- Sports PASM (-20mm) with more road bias than a GT3
- folding buckets
- some GT3 suspension bits
- 911R gearbox
- a bit of unique external/internal style
- LSD

Wouldn't trouble the halo models performance-wise (or the turbo Carrera S for that matter) and would essentially be a parts bin job
Nah...wouldn't sell...they tried that five years ago with the Cayman R. wink

If the 991 GT3 and onwards are being designed as supercars, do we think there might be space in the model lineup for a track day 911 a la old GT3? Say a GT3/911R lite priced at Carrera S level? Would be lovely to have a car along the lines of....

Not in my head. No rear engined-ness, long gears, regular 3.8 engine, maybe too track biased, no possibility of rear seats

Lovely, very low mileage. I do not think that is a smart purchase if buying as investment. If buying to drive, it is probably pretty close to getting a new 996 in 2017 - still cheaper than a 991 GT3 and possibly the better/purer/more fun driving experience

If buying to drive you'd take a 30k mile example, save £50k and spend the saving on petrol and upgrades/refresh when required.

Fully agree, but some people prefer buying "newish" cars in the sense of hardly used.

Except that car, lovely as it was, had comfort bucket seats ... so not quite right and of course, LHD.

You wouldn't because there aren't any for sale.

funny old game all these inflating prices ...

and yet, I am looking at a 997.1 GT3, the spec is v good, its from an OPC, comes with 2 years warranty, and has been on the market since at least November last year

was originally up for £90k (37k miles, clubsport, 4 owners)

and now advertised at £85k

which doesnt look the wrong price to me

but clearly not a sniff of a buyer in over 3 months....

I'm not sure they're selling at or near their advertised prices. Anyone who has offered their 7GT3 to a dealer in p/x or trade sale would probably concur given my experience a year or so ago. Suspect there's a bit of a car selling version of the Peter Principle going on at dealers.
