I'd rather not spend over 6k really and currently looking at the Ecoboost Fiestas, do any of you guys have any alternative options?

Thanks a lot!
Tom

edit : the title is supposted to say "Any cars that can do 0-60 in 10 secs with an engine no larger than a 1.4?"

A BMW i8 is a 1.5 so no good I guess. 0-60 in 4.4 though...

Oh wait. Six grand.

Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.4 TSI, 180hp, 0-60 in 7s. Can be had for about 5-6k. Its that VW 1.4 Twincharged engine though which as far as I know doesnt have the best reputation for reliability.

Lupo Sport is 9.x I think. A lot older than the fiesta though.

You can get the Corsa D in a 1.4T I think?

Why the requirement for 1.4 or smaller? Is this an insurance issue?

As with anything you get good and bad - I have a Fabia VRS with the same engine and it's been ok for over 75k miles. Does drink oil between services but not excessive. Also had a misfire caused by a dud spark plug once. I keep an official warranty running on it just in case but it's a cracking little engine.

To add to that, theres the Mk5 Golf GT Sport, 170hp version does 7.5 to 60mph and a 140hp version that does it in 8.5. Bought for a good bit less than 6k, again though has that same 1.4 Twincharged engine.

Also a few of that era VAG cars with the turbo 1.4 TSI which I think is about 120hp, Mk5 Golf, Mk2 Seat Leon, should do 60mph in less than 10s.

I have a Panda 100HP. I reckon the rate at which it shifts in gears 1,2,3 from a standstill it should do 0-60 comfortably in 10 sets or less.

Bag of ste on motorway sometimes though. Great city car

Forgot about the Italians too, theres the Abarth Grande Punto and newer Abarth Punto Evo, both under 10s and both with the quicker 'Esseesse' versions.

Theres an Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.4 Turbo that comes with 120hp, 135hp, 155hp and 170hp versions, all under 10s to 60.

I'm assuming the OP means NA cars as quite a few turbo charged ones will do 0-60 in under 10.

Thanks a lot for your replies guys, very helpful.
I've narrowed it down to either the Abarth 500 or Punto Evo Sporting, any opinions on these choices?
