I am taking a 12 hour flight with a 2 and a 4 year old. Any recommendations for a tablet that will play cartoons and films? I only need something for the duration of the trip. I only have macs at home so need to be able to download using a mac.

Many thanks

Kindle Fire, various sizes available. You don't normally add any content from the laptop as you just download direct from the store.

Alternatively, sleeping tablet?

This and or this.

Mine both have kindle fires. They usually download something from iPlayer but could equally get content from Amazon or Netflix. Last time we flew they spent the time on Minecraft or creating their own videos. They take MicroSD cards which are a good idea for them as the onboard storage isn't great for lots of videos.

I agree Kindle Fire 7" for £49 (or £79 for the Kid specific version).

If you have Amazon Prime already then it's ideal as it will let you download content.

In addition to E gadgets, consider getting each of them 2 new small toys ....cars, action figures, dolls... or whatever they are in to...the kind of thing that can be hidden in mums handbag so not big.

Only need to be small £'s but then present them to them 1 at a time if they are getting bored / fractious. If they don't get bored, keep them back for another time. Don't be tempted to give them to them anyway....they are your backstop strategy :-)

When my son was about 4 or 5, he spent about 1.5 hrs on a flight playing with a small action figure and some string :-). Harder with the 2 year old.

Our local Tesco were doing these for £38 a pop a few weeks ago. I asked how many they had in stock, they had 3 so I bought 3, I've got one in my garage running Spotify, one by my bedside for reading e-books, and one in a drawer as a spare. Can't go wrong at that price.

AVPlayer can tear through battery life... no idea why but it seems to... battery booster if you choose this.

I use it on my iPad mini2 and 12.9 Pro all the time (literally daily) when away in hotels for films and tv shows and not had a problem at all, no more noticeable drain than using SkyGo / VLC / or even iTunes for similar media playback ?!

I can easily get 8hrs playback from AVPlayer on my mini2

I'll try a system re-install.
