What should I do next to my 993?!
Discussion
Had my 993 a bit over 4 years which is the longest I've ever owned a car by quite some margin. Car gets driven on road and track. Have given her quite a bit of TLC over the years (full details bar the last service here: http://www.pistonheads.com/members/showServiceHist... and her current spec is:
993 C2 manual Cab
Koni FSDs + M033s
Superpro bushes
New top mounts all round (Centre Gravity, checked and replaced a few other bits a couple of years ago)
OMP strut brace
Carnewal RSR mufflers (gratuitous vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HzC5cbTkcQ)
Clear lenses on front
HID Kit
Calipers repainted in red and overhaul
Paint and fit front air ducts
Dash clocks refaced in white
I'm starting to get an itch to upgrade/tweak her a bit more. My musings....
- Interior is commensurate with mileage so I do daydream about a retrim about once a year but the cost appears to be pretty mega.
- Cab hood lining could do with some TLC and other than that the only thing that bugs me is the fact that the speedo overreads by 10%+ but apparently this is pretty normal
- remap by Wayne Schofield, although last time I tried to get hold of him I had no joy despite repeated attempts and he is miles away. Also worried about changing the character of the engine too much
- Quaife/Wavetrac LSD, but lots of money to buy and esp fit unless you're doing a clutch etc at the same time I believe, not sure it's worth it.
Was wondering what thoughts people had and whether I'm missing anything obvious?

I think having read your list of modifications you have already done, the next obvious thing would be to trade it in and do the same to a coupe! You could then add good looks to the list of mods. Why do all that to a cabrio
Haha! Expensive! Basically, because it doesn't have super stiff springs etc on it now, it's fine that it's a Cab without the added torsional stiffness of the Coupe. I'd rather save my money and keep a car that I know is mechanically sound, rather than start from a relative unknownBeautiful. Definitely go with Wayne for a re map. You will love it. If you don't you can always put a standard chip back in. ZF diff would be okay as well. 1998 had clear indicators so not an issue. I like the look but prefer ambers on 3.2's and 964's. Although I did put clears, front and side on my own 964 many years ago

Something like this cab would be perfect for the Summer - guilty pleasure!Pickled Piper said:
The bottom of the Porsche shield on the wheel centre caps should be pointing at the valve stems.
You should rectify this immediately.

On a slightly less cheerful note, my other half managed to reverse into the rear bumper of the car this morning while piloting our family battlewagon Quite a feat considering the aforementioned battle wagon has rear parking sensors So there's a nice 2"x2" graze through the thickness of the paint. Was quite upset about it this morning but have decided to use it as an excuse to get the bumper resprayed and tidied up. It's still carrying a few minor but visible-if-you-know-they're-there scrapes kindly added by assorted incapable-of-parallel-parking-without-hitting-other-cars idiots before we moved out of London.

If you're going to track it more I would agree with the above. I once had some pax laps in a 964 cab and felt rather queasy due to all the scuttle and shake. Gassing Station | Porsche Classics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
