Hey,

Am scoping out going to this one but rather than reinvent the wheel, anyone on here got hints/tips/where to camp/view the race and what to avoid?

I've never been for the bikes but go every year for the car 24, the campsites, which are boisterous for the cars are apparently closer to anarchy for the bikes, there are other options nearby if you're looking for the chance to get any sleep?
Viewing-wise I'd probably go for the Dunlop grandstand , start/finish straights are the most boring part of any race-track for me, if you do want the main straight I wouldn't go for the stand above the pits, there's plenty of terracing & other viewing areas if you want the chance to move about.
Don't speed on any major route down there, the gendarmes need to pay for that month in the sun in August!

Been a few times - last time stayed in Alencon and rode there an back for the race.

Tolls in the area are usually free for the day for bikes with a lane barrier up and coned off for bikes.

At the circuit its a free for all for parking outside but there are specific bike parks too. Last time we were there the marshals were making many of the bikes kill the engine and restart when leaving - what a goo idea to make sure they're not hot wired!

I would take a lock if youre on something desireable....

Anarchy on the campsite is fair to say but mainly high spirits like Donington of old, the noise abates around 4am!

More concerning is thieving from the campsite, friend who stayed there more recent than me had his tent sliced opened & entered while he was asleep, taking his wallet out of his jeans which he was using as a pillow - perhaps it was best he didn't awake if someone was that brazen.

Plenty of other things to see around the circuit in the evenings - bars, live music, stunt displays and open grandstands.
