Opinions on this Hartech car - 997.1 c2s manual

If the gen 1 engines weren't known to be a bit crap, this car would be seriously overpriced. I don't see how a repaired engine adds value myself
I'd rather my money went into buying a newer car that would hold value better than one that had been well fixed
I don't think there is much performance between 345BHP Gen 1 S and 355BHP Gen 2 3.6
Surely something like this makes more sense & these will hold value better in the short, medium and long term in my opinion

I doubt they'll take £5k less, but it does seem like it's overpriced by at least that much.
I'm bang into the colour & spec, along with the piece of mind the Hartech rebuild brings, but I accept the argument. If it were priced more sensibly then I'd be moving on it, but as it is I can't justify a >£30k Gen.1 regardless of the bells & whistles.

Would look fantastic with a ducktail and Fuchs wheels like the sport classic.
Would also look great with a GT3 body kit.

But then it's not a super rare colour car in factory original paint. If you're going to start making changes why not buy one in resale-silver and have it repainted?
Better still, have it wrapped, then when you get bored you can change again or go back to the original colour. Have to say, I do like the orange though There are a lot of silver cars out there....
Not that I'd baulk at buying one with the right spec sheet, it'd be lower on my list all things considered.
There's a thread on 911uk about the car, the garage won't budge on the asking price, so trying to get it below £30k seems like a no-no for the foreseeable.

On the garage - shame, but unsurprised as I couldn't get any movement on a dog of a car recently let alone one that might sell. May keep an eye on this for giggles, see if it drops eventually.....
on colour - Black works well, red too..... Silver is inoffensive and given I'm buying on condition right now I'd pick whatever is offered. Except gray/red interiors.... really don't get that, sorry, personal preference but it's black or GTFO.

Tend to agree on the interior, would like some contrasting stitching if I'm being honest (although the Cayman R bucket seats in carbon & alcantara are absolute porn) but black all day long.
Might go check the Tango mobile out Saturday if I want something to do & leave an offer on the table. See if they get itchy feet in a month.

Why do people still call it resale silver?
Silver is surely the worst colour for resale values for Porsches, Ferraris etc.
silver not as good for Ferarri which has a tradition of being red. Porsche is a more understated car and the bright colours only suit the very special models. Silver is surely the worst colour for resale values for Porsches, Ferraris etc.
Also Porsches are more likely to see daily use and silver is very practical, hides dirt well.
The issue with this car is the red calipers clash with the orange rather.
I do like the colour a lot and like the rebuild, but I bet if I asked to part ex my 997.1 2005 70k miles they would be offering me £20k if I'm lucky ! Maybe it's just a rebuild and I will be paying for it anyway at some point.....

Assuming a no expense spared rebuild, and otherwise no significant issues, it looks like fair value to me. When I briefly looked at 997.1 S a couple of years ago, anything that was in good original condition was £25k. There were plenty of cars around £20k, one with 160k miles at £16k, but close inspection of the advert or a phone call would always identify something of concern.
This car has spec, colour (obviously it's only of interest if you like orange) and mileage on its size. It comes from an established specialist, albeit with a range of views about their prep and added value, and even without the rebuild I'd have though £28k was unsurprising. Not everybody values something simply because it's newer and shinier. The DFI engines are all well and good but my limited experience (987 Spyder versus 996.1) is that the map sometimes interferes with the throttle control. Someone might specifically want a 997.1.
In light of the car which sold from Bristol OPC recently, which had a warranty (which is worthless once its run out) I think the orange car represents good value - assuming it's the full monty rebuild.
As the expression goes (while acknowledging the market may be specific and small) - find another!
