Having had LWBS in my old gt4 and the current one, I'm very much thinking the same with club sport pack in a gt3.
Quite a few have mentioned that they're going for folding buckets, any reason for this? Without a cage I can see the practical reasons but folding buckets with cs pack?

The folding buckets aren't height adjustable and in the Cayman / Boxster they sit too high for my liking. With the light weight buckets you get the feeling of sitting in the car rather than on it especially if around 6ft or over.

Is it just a personal preference or am I missing something?

Wheel colour? Platinum wheels would be great with that spec. Blacks a departure for you isn't it Phooey?
I think Mexico or riviera would be great on this car.
I've gone for silver wheels - seeing them on a black 991 R made my mind up. re body colour - tough choice but black won in the end. Yellow probably a close 2nd. PTS doesn't really interest me when there are some good colours as standard but if going PTS I would probably go Gulf orange

I find the folding buckets far more comfortable. Also being able to get into the back of the car seems more practical, Fixed buckets i use at their lowest and whilst folding might be a little higher they are still low enough for a 6' guy imo.

Thanks for the feedback Shiverman.

I put this configuration together. My initial thought was black but my current gts is GT silver and its stunning.
I'm undecided about wheel colour and whether to go pccb or steel as I'd like to track it a bit and don't want the hassle of looking after pccb's.

I didn't think I'd like the pinstripe and I'm still not too sure but thought the silver black and red went well together. Red stitching would be too much.

Nice spec Fokker. I'd go PCCB but I'm not a huge track guy. I'm thinking of trying to make my car different from the GTS so I'm thinking painted interior rather than carbon. Also think silver stitching is good as I have 991GTS, 981BGTS & Macan GTS all with red stitching and carbon trim. Agree GT silver is epic and it's definitely one of my choices. I'm also thinking crayon or white. Love black but too high manintenance for me even though I would PPF the whole car. I'm also loving silver wheels atm as I think they look so good and you can see all the detail of what is a beautiful wheel.

Will you stick with PDK or go manual if you have the option.

I do like the pinstripe in the AP video but I reckon by the time I come to lockdown I will have changed my mind along with a few other items. That red car in his interview just looked fabulous all ways round.

Have you got a confirmed order or has your OPC not yet announced their allocation like mine?

You are right about the lovely wheel design. It is a shame to black it all out. Platinum is nice too.
I'll probably not go with the pinstripe in the end.

My other thought was black with platinum wheels and pccb's. Did you see pics of the 'Steve McQueen' tribute 911R? Google it, it's lovely. I'm a fan of black cars so this combo would work for me. You'll notice the Porsche sticker down the door in platinum to match the wheels and Porsche in yellow to match the callipers. It's stunning. So many to choose from!

Not confirmed my allocation yet like you but I'm in with a very good shout, they've not confirmed numbers yet so next week I guess.

Fair play keeping your options reasonable. I'm between £20-24k options depending on the day. It's a special car for me and if my OPC ever give an allocation I'll go ott with the options list!

Had Platinum wheels on the GT4 and they are great. Have been my favourite for a long time but then I saw some UV 991RS and I fell for the silver wheels.

If PTS is an option then slate grey it is. Silverstone have a very similar looking 991 4S in slate grey with the same stripe and yellow stitching I've seen it a couple of time and dribbled a little bit on both occasions! Didn't realise it was an SMq replica.

I think I'll wait until Tuesday before chasing allocations again. Or maybe Monday at 9.30am. Lol

Dave, that is some awesome spec without going overboard...I agree that with clubsport the 918 seats are a no brainer unless they don't agree with your back. GT silver along with GR my fav colours on the GT3 although a recent picture on Rennlist of graphite blue with black rims threw a curve ball..!
Regarding Pccb's,i love them as you know although speeding up my half mile drive tonight straight after washing my GT4 i nearly came a cropper into my entrance gate which is a factor to consider. I drove my GT4 tonight first time this week and the sublime manual box never ceases to amaze which makes the choice of gear box on the GT3 more difficult as i also love the PDK s box..I notice you haven't picked rear camera which i think is a good value useful option and the front end lift is essential imo...

I had PCCB's and Zenons in spec origionally but I'll not be tracking the car that's why I deleted PCCB's but still thinking about adding back in however I don't think I'll get the £6.4k back on resale?

There's plenty of people who would argue that's exactly why you should get PCCB!

I think that's exactly true, for all GTs. PCCBs for road and occasional track, steels for regular track. And I think they do add value in the s/h market.
Don't know the stats, but if IIRC, it tends to be 60:40 PCCBs:Steels when new, so you would expect the s/h market demand to be similar.

+1. If buying used GT car spec would have to be amazing for me to consider if it didn't have PCCB.

With the 991.1 GT3, pccbs appear roughly to add the cost new to the value of the car second hand.

Clubsport cars generally up to £10k more than non cs.

Not so with the GT4....despite another £ 3k just for the cage! Ceramics not as valued as with the GT3.

I am going steels on the GT3 if only to avoid the potentially horrific replacement costs of the pccb rotas.

Unless you are using your car fairly extensively 'on track', then there is no reason why you should encounter replacement costs, until the car has reached 100,000++ mls, at which point the new discs should be cost neutral.

You should make a video akin the the Taxtherich' ones with a drive that long John!
I'll happily do the filming!

It's interesting that your first impression after time out of the seat is the gearbox. That's my fondest memory of the old gt4 and why I'm collecting another one at the end of this week. The GTS is lovely but I want more of a weekend fun toy experience this summer hence the GTS is going to a new home reluctantly. We'll have to get together possibly with Iwan if he's free for a Sunday blast?

I'm in two minds about pccb's. My other colour choice is jet black metallic and with platinum wheels and yellow calipers it looks the dogs plus I've never tried pccb's so a new experience would be good.

Fair point but I have had an ongoing problem as previously mentioned regarding stones lodging between the discs(rear) and calipers on both 981s and 991s. Not that I drive over gravel deliberately!

Bad luck I guess....but this would be terminal for ceramics and up to £5k replacement cost each disc. Not so steels.

Interesting that AP in the initial interviews on the gen 2 referred to the car having brake pads which sit c a millimetre further away from the disc compared to the gen 1 GT3 brakes. (both steels and ceramics). Presumably Porsche have satisfied themselves as to the wet weather performance of the ceramics, but this 'new' design does beg the question whether increased initial braking over the gen 1 will be required to dry out in particular ceramics to obtain optimum braking.

AP also refers a number of times to the gen 2 brakes not being prone to squealing like the gen 1s. This has affected the gen 1 and GT4 since new despite regular clearing out of accumulated brake dust.

If you like that one check out this one on Rennlist

http://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-gt3rs-and-911r/...

I absolutely love it...the attention to detail/thought that has gone in is very impressive. Clearly on an R it's irrelevant but the CXX options must have cost a bomb!

I really like the black bonnet with silver stripes but I shouldn't!
