Struggling to decide on the lights for a jet black metallic car. With the LED's in black will it look too dark as against the PDLS Xenons that have a lighter grey ring around the outside?
Xenons
LED in black
I sat in a jet black 991.1GT3 at my OPC about two years ago and we commented at the time how awesome it looked if you like the mean stealth look..!.However if i'm given an allocation i personally would not choose black as i've had a few black Porsches on the trot and i'm sick of the maintenance. There is a good thread over on Rennlist showing a colour poll which you need to study imo. Have you tried silver wheels on jet black ?.Xenons
LED in black
Gt silver along with Guards would be my choices but after seeing a photo of Graphite blue with black wheels in sunlight which i quite like.Nobody should get too concerned about spec imo in case they don't get a build slot as the pain of rejection will be even more acute...

Do painted sills get battered with stone chips?
I ppf'ed both my McLaren and Spyder but the McLaren still suffered quite badly.
Cheers
They can do on a 911 and imo make the car too slab sided especially if a light colour.I ppf'ed both my McLaren and Spyder but the McLaren still suffered quite badly.

Talking of stone chips, I find both the GT3 and GT4 rear wheels (basically similar design) fairly prone to stone chips which is more evident the darker the wheel colour (mine titanium).
Presumably stone chips will be less evident on the standard light alloy finish of the 991.2.

My GTS came with painted sills in GT silver and after 12k miles they were well road rashed. Either the prev owner was a rally driver or they are prone to stones. As AV185 says, the coloured ones give the car a fatter midriff. I changed to new black plastic ones. Personal choice but I'd not colour code. It's a great game people spotting these different Spec GT3's dotted around Europe , but maybe would have been easier if Porsche just took a picture of each one before as they left the factory . I'm assuming these can't be customer cars yet so must be the test fleet getting a few miles in before the journo's get a hold of them in a few weeks time ?
