Imo it has to be either the standard brushed aluminium (which looks cheap imo but would match the GT silver) or carbon, which is good value.

The anthracite also looks a touch grim imo, but because of the light external colour it should be ok. Its expensive too.

Its one of those finishes you really need to see on an actual car before speccing.
Anthracite brushed is NCO....

I realise it's only a trivial matter but has anyone else noticed that in the official brochure for the GT3 the vehicle's shade of red appears to change from guards red at the beginning ( ~ four photos) before morphing into carmine red for the remaining photos?
Of course, it could just be my old eyes playing silly b****rs with me! Great colour though - err, either one.

Where did you get the brochure from?

I agree, the brochure and launch images could be either red with use of filters - looks to mean and moody for guards red.

Guards red

Carmine red

PTS Rosso Corsa

Carmine left and Guards right

Lighting and effects make all the difference in photo's. The side shot of the Carmine RS above looks enhanced IMO

I seem to have read that the suspension is a bit softer and perhaps easier to live with so I'm thinking of using it (assuming I get an allocation) as a daily car. I do about 8k miles per year but do some relatively short journeys. I disliked the 918 style buckets and found them uncomfortable and Mrs Shiver found them a nightmare as well. Folding buckets are an option and I know they are comfortable but still a bit more of a compromise for everyday in & out.

So here is the heresy- looking at 991.1 GT3 and nearly all of them seem to have chairs so are any of you guys going to spec 'chairs'? If they are such a bad thing to spec on a GT car why have so many people spec'd them?

I've played with my spec and with the money saved on buckets, I can get a shed load of other toys and frippery. Currently at £20k of options and that's with no cost paint and silver wheels.

Second question what does Sport Chrono offer in the GT3? I didn't use it in my GT4. I don't use it in the 991GTS except it gives sport plus which the GT3 doesn't have or so I believe. TBH I'm unlikely to track the car much so all the track telemetry will be lost on me so why do I need it?

I realise I'll be banned from PH for such remarks and have a worthless car but i haven't locked down my spec so plenty of time to be convinced otherwise! Be gentle guys!

If you click on the information button on the configurator it tells you. Amazing hey? You also get the correct answer, not the usual 'it does nothing, it's an eyesore' blah blah.

IIRC There was a fairly long period where buckets weren't available to spec. I know this also affected the GT4 and Spyder.

Seem to recollect that the buckets shortage was caused by a combination of supplier problems and the fact that there was an effective run on the seats by the 991 RS, GT4 and Spyder being in production at the same time.

Can't imagine the new GT3 will be affected.

I think one of the reasons there are so few cars on the market with buckets is that the cars with buckets/club sport pack are much more popular and sell quickly. You will get your money back on buckets...one of the few options that applies to. Buckets, Front Lift, PCCB's and Club Sport pack all add value make the car much more desirable and pretty much will retain every penny they cost.

In 997.2 GT3 land CS cars with buckets command a premium of £10k to £20k and sell very quickly. The last two I am aware of that came up for sale were with JZM and both sold within a day or two.

I don't think "chairs" are a bad thing per se but if you're going to track the car you will definitely appreciate them and most people that own GT3's will take them on track some of the time.. The 18 way adaptive seats are superb though.

I had actually read that on the configurstor but thanks for posting it up. From what I can see it is really only for track use - not what I plan to do mostly with the car. I was wondering if it does anything else that I'be missed - e.g. Sports/Sports Plus button.

If track only I may give it a miss this time.

Thanks Guys. I was set on folding buckets as I'd had them before and but when trawling last night saw loads of chairs cars which my GTS has and they are really comfy so I had a mad moment and thought - well maybe and then I won't have to have the stripe in the seat either.

Understand about recovering the money & maybe more at resell. I plan to spec PCCB but not CS as it's a road based car for me. Probably not SC either this time given its track only advantages.

Will probably end up with folding buckets and also special paint which together adds another £5k but what the hell you can't take it with you!

I'd put it on as it's only £336.

The folding buckets are definitely worth having.
