Mines also purely a road car and apart from the much discussed pros and cons of ceramics v steels I have been dissuaded by the horrific cost of replacement (£5k ish) per rota following damage to several steel discs over the years caused by stones becoming wedged between the caliper and disc. I find this also affects Caymans.

Imo there is no difference whatsoever in braking performance and apart from an obvious reduction in unsprung weight, absence of brake dust and no corrosion with ceramics the other obvious aspect is would a ceramic braked GT3 be worth proportionately more relative to a steel braked car?

Am aware the OP doesn t want a values thread again but this bit is relevant!

A ceramic gen 1 car at say £130 k is generally worth the cost of this option over a steels car and it could be argued this would be even more pronounced on the gen2 which will essentially provide 991 RS performance......and a 991 RS without ceramics is bad news being worth up to c £17k less than a ceramic car at a £200k price point.

I have always taken the view that to date GT Porsche have steels and GTRS Porsche have ceramics....but this Gen 2 could well have moved the goal posts.

Cue sleepless nights! biggrin:

With regard to PCCB, I've had two 991 GT3s both Clubsport cars - The first one had steel brakes, and the the 2nd one PCCBs. I much prefer the initial pedal feel of the ceramic discs, and to me, the pedal modulation feels better on big stops - I can feel the onset of the ABS more accurately. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the steel brakes, I just prefer the PCCB, so I'll be speccing them.

Won't be tracking the car but I'd have thought PCCB's would/should be part of the overall package?

You got me thinking about the red belts!!!!!!good point made smile
I have silver stitch and red belts on my Guards Pccb GT4 and i love it...On the GT3 i would forgo red stitching (Saving £834) and spec red belts at £200 to match the red harnesses and 12 o clock marker. My issue with the red stitching option is you also get the OTT red seat stripes which with red harnesses etc starts to look like a boudoir imho...Silver stitching matches the exterior GT silver and also contrasts nicely with guards red and red belts/harnesses and 12o clock marker sets it off nicely...
Regarding Pccbs and front lift, i think both will be very sought after on the used market..I think without including the pricey special colours that GT silver and Guards red will deservedly become the defining popular colours and both imo suit the new GT3 perfectly and mine will be either of them..
On the transmission both manual and PDK will be equally desirable and deservedly imo as both will be epic for different reasons...

I think all the special colours will pop on the GT3 and with the exception of CR the other three are very much marmite..! There is a very good GT3 colour poll thread over on Rennlist which shows crayon/chalk as No 1 with miami at No 2 closely followed by GTS and GR..

I am a man of principle Rich......and I may yet change mine! biggrin:

Must admit am leaning towards manual......this week at least.

Be interesting to learn whether the dual mass flywheel on the manual will mean it will sound 'better' I.e. less like a bag o' nails on tickover compared to the gen 1 PDK. Couldn't sound much worse imo.

Even if the manual doesn't , at very low speeds , car park coasting for example, you can always dip the clutch and this stops the noise.

FWIW it never really bothered me on the 991 , just made me smile as onlookers thought the car sounded st - it is was it is I guess. I have to say , I will spec manual if I get one but it isn't quite as black and white as I thought it would be - if tracking regularly I think I'd go PDK - it's just so good - but in truth , when the chips are down I just prefer the engagement and I certainly don't need the extra speed - it's not like the manual is going to be slow - the only limiting factor will be me.

Will be interesting to see where it pans out - I think lots of people who are genuinely in the mix, will get offers of cars but in PDK and not manual and as such all they can decide is take the car or walk away - not a bad problem to have smile

Miami is brighter than that, most OPC's seem to have a car knocking around in it as it's available across the range.

This is a good representation of it

My spec order

GT silver
Leather interior plus contrast stitching in red
Bi-Zenon lights
Reversing camera
Privacy glass
Gloss black door handles
Exterior mirrors lower section painted gloss black
PDK
Axle lift
PCCB's
Chrono package
Wheels in Satin
Clubsport Package
Six point harness for passenger seat
Dimming mirrors/rain sensor
12-o'clock marking in red (s/wheel)
Sports Bucket seats
Seat heating
Guards red s/belts
Carbon interior
Digital radio.

Anything I should delete/add
That will look great. Personally I'd probably go for the LED headlights with black surround to tie in with the other black accents / door handles etc etc. I'd also like to see what the standard finish is like on the wheels. Love the bright finish of the 991R wheels and wonder if "satin aluminium" would be the same?
