Advice needed: I need to send a box approx 80x80x50cm, 15kg. to the USA, cannot be sent by air. Value isn't especially high so it wouldn't be worth spending much more than £100 on shipping. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

It'll be far cheaper by air

Why can't you send it?

I work in freight and logistics and for LCL ocean freight you will pay way over £100 as you will be hitting all the minimum charges. W/M charge into NYC is around $60 per cbm (cubic meter) or part off with a minimum 2cbm charges, so $120, + UK THC, Customs, Port security, collection will be around the £80 mark and then the local US clearance charges.

You'll be able to send by air, just possibly not on passenger aircraft, but will be able to on a freighter.

What are the good and the DG class?

Laser toner cartridges, pretty sure these can't be shipped by air in any way, though.

Any reason they can't just be bought locally over there solving the headache/cost?

Toner cartridges are absolutely fine by air freight due to the screening in place.

Lithium batteries are always and will always be a pain in the bum. Not approved for passenger aircraft but freighter only and only in limited quantities.

I'm afraid I've nothing to contribute to question but I am intrigued as to why you can't airfreight toner cartridges.......and why they would need to be exported to the US from the UK.

You can air freight toner cartridges, most of them come in this was from the Far East. However, who you would want to export them to the US is a good question.

They were banned around 2010/11 after the security services uncovered a plot using them to disguise a bomb.
