both have good or bad points., it has a lot to do with body shape so one has to have sat in both for 3 hours to know which works best.

The folding fit me like a glove, The fixed for me not as good, but look nicer and go lower.
Folding is heated fixed is not.

I have the fixed Buckets in my RS - nothing but praise for them

I tried the folding ones at Geneva and although they were marginally more comfortable (admittedly over a short period of time) they were too low for me. The full buckets have height adjustment

Was covered in the main thread but here we go:

- fixed buckets look cooler and height adjustable. BUT not heated and fixed and some say more upright.
- folding buckets sit a bit higher and non adjust. But can be heated and folding which gives access to back even if you have a cage...

I think I will go for fixed as height adjust is a nice one for me. Just don't get why not heated.. makes no sense. That blank buttons are just horrible!

Only answer is to try for yourself I think!

Would be interesting to know is it's possible to raise the folding buckets in some way by raising the seat mounting ?

the folding seat is quite high !!! the taller person will want to go with the fixed seat as it goes lower.
Most people want to lower the folding seat, esp the taller person.

Ah okay. I thought I'd read it was fixed in a lowish position....my error!

I'm 6'2" so sounds like the Fixed Buckets. How will I cope without heated seats ?!?!

I'm going to the PEC in a couple of months so will ask to have a sit in cars equipped with both (assuming my deposit has been confirmed by then). Pretty sure the Cayenne I'll be driving won't have either smile

I expect the heated seat option with folding buckets is less important than, say, in a Spyder?

So what I mean is, would you spec heated seats with folding buckets just because you can?

Much less important! I'd probably tick them because I like them if getting the Folding Buckets but I wouldn't let that influence my decision as to which is the better Bucket seat to get.

Tony, I've had folding buckets in 991 GT3s, and fixed buckets in GT4 and 991RS, and have done many thousands of miles, including long trips on both - my preference is for the fixed bucket. I can live with the fact that it cant be heated, and I do like that it sits lower.

Agree had folding in 991 gt3 and fixed 991 Gt3rs would go fixed every time. Only negative is it's hard to get the the back for cleaning windows

I have folding buckets and IMO they are more comfortable than fix. With the fixed I started getting shoulder ache very quickly. Folding are perfect for me and I am 6ft.

Seat base was too narrow for me for fixed buckets and is no go. Folding were slightly better.

Strange as the Spyder fixed buckets are wider at the base and narrower at the shoulders v the folding buckets!

Yes I found that I moved around a lot on the base of the seat compared to folding ones
