All,

I want to get a tail bag for my 2016 GSXR 1000.
Had a look at a few in the local shop (Oxford models) and they only had a single Velcro strap to secure under the seat and I was hoping for a four point anchor system.
I tend to get a bit of a groove on and one strap does not seem safe or secure.

Any suggestions?

One of the Kriega US tail packs.

Lovely bits of kit, very well built and attach to loops which are wrapped around your subframe under the seat so there's no chance of it going anywhere nevermind how spirited your riding.

The only downside is they're not cheap.

Depends how big you want it to be, I bought an Autokicker Hero, big enough for a set of waterproofs and a puncture repair kit.

Cheers Tom. I'll check them out

Kriega.

Otherwise it's a case of "you get what you pay for" or "buy cheap, buy twice".

Another vote for Kriega, not just because they are good bags, but the fitting system is far superior. I got a free 50L Oxford bag and recently had to use it for a longer journey. The "velcro strap under the seat" is just terrible. I couldn't actually manage to get it fitted. I ended up using a lot of bungee cords and the supplied straps. With the Kriega it just clips into system within seconds.

If you're after volume then these are worth a look:

Easy to get on and off, stable at speed and well made.

+1

Had a Kriega on the back of my fireblade. Put the straps around the subframe and under the pillion seat, with the clips just sticking out. When not in use just tuck the clips under the seat out of sight. When i want to use the bag pull the clips out and put the seat back on. Attach the bag to the clips and tighten the straps. Job done. At the other end just unclip and pull out the shoulder strap, walk away. Worked really well.

It was just about the only useful bit of luggage i could find for the blade. Tank bags are out because of plastic tank cover. Fuel cap ring ones didn't seem to sit right and are small.

You've not made a bad decision. I have a couple of Kriega US20s and I've used one of the Bags Connection packs. For 20 liters or less, the Kriega kit is almost impossible to beat. It's only when you start to go over 20 liters and need multiple Kriega bags that the Bags Connection pack comes into it's own. It's not quite as well made as the Kriega but is still a very good quality item of kit which will do the job really well, is built to last and is a cheaper option per liter than the Kriega kit.

I've used the Oxford bag with a single velcro strap under the seat extensively on an R1. Its actually pretty good. That said, I backed it up with bungees from the loops on each corner of the bag but on the odd occasion I didnt have the bungees, it was fine, even at questionable speeds. But for simplicity and value, its hard to go past.

Kriega as well. Not cheap but the quality is brilliant. I have the US30 and the US5, strap them together and it sorts most of my soft luggage requirements. Build quality is excellent, and the fitting system works. I've not had it move once in all the times of using. I can also testify to it being completely waterproof. I'm always in favour of looking at better value alternatives but having looked, I couldn't see any.

It takes a bit of time to get set up on your bike properly, but it really is the best soft luggage out there.

Kriega US10 or US20.

I use my US10 pretty daily for the last 7yrs ... it's battered but still does the job perfectly.

Have you got a pic of the US-10 on the pillion seat? I'm trying to gauge how big they are.

Did you try Hepco & Becker tank bags? They're by far the best fuel cap ring system I've tried - and I've tried almost all of them - with several sizes and styles of tankbag. I reckon Hepco & Becker quality's right up there with Kriega. The Germans keep Hepco & Becker hidden under a bushel, as it's not really advertised in the UK.

Their about the same dimensions as a 10 litre petrol can.

+1 on Kriega quality. I have the R20 backpack. Quality and workmanship is brilliant.

No comment on the tail bags, but it is on my list to buy.

I would always add a dry bag (Cotswolds, gooutdoors, etc.) to carry stuff in.

Yep...

That's a US10 about 70-80% full.

Just for a bit of extra help, it's a US20 pretty fully stuffed in that pic of my blade further up the page
