2-in-1 laptop losing keyboard connection

I have an HP Pavilion X2 laptop, kind of a tablet with detachable keyboard. It has magnets to keep the two pieces together but often the tablet unit doesn't detect the keyboard and I need to wiggle it around or remove/re-attach it to get it to work. None of the pins in the connector seem damaged or anything.

Any tips on improving the connection or is it just a drawback with this kind of 2-in-1 design?

I have an Asus t100 that does the same. I doubt it'll work the same but when that happens I get the notification bit up on the right, touch anywhere on there and it starts working again. Worth a try at least.
