Noticed this red Chimarea on ebay:-

eBay item number:252829736318

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252829736318?_trksid=p20...

Cannot make my mind as to whether I like the look of not. It seems to be well done but????????

Thoughts and Opinions?

Just too much imo.

Front looks okish, rear looks a bit cartoon!

Looks like it's got a nice fast engine installed yet with those looks it needs 700 Bhp to justify itself,,, and handle.
It looks like a good job and plenty of money has been put into the car but the wheel spats need to be more individual and blended more. IMHO.
I like it though but couldn't own it. It's hard to beat perfection and the the Chim captures many things in its great lines.

I've seen this advertised at £20k, with a load of Range Rover classics in the background.
The price is much better now. Not one for the purist but I reckon £12k will bag it though.
Wheels are an easy change. So don't be put off by those. The arches are a bit marmite but it looks well done and it has a 5.0 rv8 instead of a Chevy which in my eyes suits a tvr better in keeping it a British muscle car wink

You mean the RV8 which started life as a Buick V8...?

Yes and was never used by Buick as it was deemed too small in displacement

They run with it for about 3 years and put it in all sorts, even making a turbo version for Oldsmobile. Quite radical stuff in the early 60s!
Each to their own but to me that car is just hideous, it looks like a cartoon

Triumph were delevoping their own v8 at the time. A 3.0 but development was rushed due to competing with rover who purchased the rights for the Buick engine. Triumph as we know eventually gave up development. The stag used the triumph v8 and cars that still retain its original engine are more sought after than the rv8 converted versions due to originality even if less powerfully.
Our TVR's powered by a rv/Buick v8 in my eyes is a good British muscle car with that engine. The engine was built in the uk and chosen for a uk built sports car. A Chevy v8 version although more powerful kinda spoils it for me. Good for corvettes, ram trucks, hellcats, etc smile

Interesting replies ................................ thank you. For me the spoilers are :-

1) The steering wheel .................. that would have to change.

2) The alloy look dash panel ......................... that would ahve to change!

3) The silvered/clear side repeaters ................... change them back to orange.

4) Also think that the front side vents should have been left and used for forced cold air feed into engine bay pssibly induction!

Be interesting to see how the sale goes.

I quite like it smile

Solves the 'should I get a Chimaera or should I get a Cobra rep' question smile

I also think if it's in as good condition chassis wise as the outside suggests then it's also very sensibly priced....

I would have preferred a more red, er, red though...

I can understand why someone would want to build something like that, I can't understand why anyone else would want it.

I would say 10k Max, it's been up for sale for a while now.
