Quoted weight is dry weight. Including fluids 1120kg is closer to the mark. My car started life at 1377.9kg. So far I have removed 248.1kg with another 8kg or so still to come. Car still retains carpet, trim panels and 4 seats, so if I really wanted to, I could get the car to around 1050kg. Most aspects of the project are laid bare here
I'd grab a cuppa if you plan on reading this though wink
I love your fastidious attention to detail re weight loss. I used to build rallycars and competed in the WRC, and we were equally fastidious regarding unnecessary weight during the build, and would always aim to get the car weight down to the minimum permitted - requires hard work and attention to detail...
Ah... but be cautious... I used to be very much into the Z3MCoupe scene and a couple
Of people did the same exercise of stripping out all the unnecessary weight. To the point where they removed what appeared to be a great big chuck of metal built into the rear bumper. Having removed it they found the handling became rather lively and uncontrollable in certain circumstances. Turns out it was there as a balance weight! Could have ended up badly!

You poor thing Davey, it is pretty lengthy by now that thread. How long did it take to read? Finally got the car somewhere close to assembled tonight, wheels included smile
I dipped in and out of it over the course of the morning. Very enjoyable though. I'd love to do similar to a 964 C2 but would probably have to pay other people to do it for me hehe

I'm going to drag this back on topic - apologies - I actually like the original headlamps compared to the more fussy gen 2 version. On my silver c2 I have the clear lamps and I'd prefer the original gingers if I was sticking with a silver front bumper. I'm not that bothered that I would go out and buy some replacements unless there was some advantage like better lights. Does anyone know if we can upgrade the lights to more modern projectors?

While we're talking bumpers - or I am - are there lightweight gt3 style bumpers available?

My car is very low and I swing back and forth between preferring the bigger bumper from the gt3 and then thinking it might be a risk if it starts catching on stuff.

You can split the lights and add in projectors. Been done on boxa.net and on 986forum.
