Another tyre question!

Hi.
I know a few of you advocate the use of 235/45x17 tyres on the back of the Chimaera.
Would this size work well with 225/45x16 tyres on the front and would these be ok on a 7.5"rim/
I realise the size difference is a little more than the 25mm standard but just wondered what your thoughts were?
I agree that the 245/40x17 tyre can look a little small when the suspension is at standard height.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
