Your 996 sold fast, well done.
I've not written my post well. Sorry.

I ended up part exchanging it. Ironically after I agreed the deal I had 4-5 people contact me asking to view the car. You couldn't make it up.

Have you bought a tip?

So interestingly, no.

I found the seating position in the cayman really quite different, and had no pain at all when driving it. Managing to hold onto a manual for longer is obviously a nice thing for me.

That might sound like total poppycock, but I honestly believe its a totally different seating position. The 18 (?) way electrically adjustable hardback sports seats probably help a fair amount.... ?

The seats are SOOOOO much better in the 9x7 cars. I've removed all 9x6 seats from all my cars. They sit you lower and further back and the padding is just so much more grown up. Totally transforms a 9x6.

I found the 986 with 9x6 seats hurt my back and hips and thighs and just everything hurt. Awful. I managed ok with 9x7 seats but it was still cramped. Then I switched to Pole Positions which gives me a bit more room again. But I understand Boxster content is frowned upon here ... so no pics.

Your pictures there tell a real story.

The one where the black 9x7 seat is in the passenger and the red 996 seat is in the driver far side - look at the seat base angle. No wonder it feels better for me.

I knew you'd battled (!?!!) with various seats and subframes, so I was hopeful you'd get it and it wasn't just a pseudo science I'd invented smile

And those aren't even the more supportive 997 "Sports" seats. Of which I could have sold you a drivers side for the princely sum of £275 ... smile

It looks to me like the 996 seat is unbolted and leaning back?

The main issue for me with the 996 seats are the lack of decent tilt, not being able to lift the front up enough, or rather, the rear of the base not being able to drop enough.

The 997 seats are so, so much nicer.

If they did have that much tilt they would be much nicer. biggrin

But you're right, it is the whole seat, the foam in the 9x7 seats are so much nicer, the leather is softer too, noticed this when the 997 first came out, jump out of a new 996 into a 997 and it was really obvious, so not the fact the leather has aged more on the 9x6.

You also feel like you are sit in the car with 9x7 seats too, the 9x6 ones always feel like you want to drop it down a few more clicks.

The 996 seats provide little if any support when "making progress" too. The 997 item I fitted temporarily was better, but these are another level altogether ...

And they come with the added bonus that with them fitted, no one can get in the back (easily), so I've removed the rear seats, which in turn means there's an additional weight saving benefit ... smile

They look great. I've done the same - no rear seats now.

Have you tried cleaning your rear window yet? I dont clean my car much but I am trying to manage damp so if I see condensation I try and attack it with a towel.

Feels expensive to Me. And I just dont like Yellow on none Aero cars.

So is an Autofarm engine as good or the same as a Hartech engine?

I viewed it 18 months ago. She’s a quick old barge, and I’d suggest more “fun” to drive than a Hartech conversion, because the uprated cams mean the engine breathes better at the top end and thus it revs nicely. I’ve got a comparison test of it and an RPM Technik CSR along with some other modded 996’s from 911 and Porsche World should anyone want me to post it.

The car had no cats when I drove it, but didn’t sound silly loud. Suspension felt tired, no knocks, rattles or bangs, just soft and a bit wallowy.

Rare in Speed, especially without a sunroof, but £42k ? A bit optimistic I think. Still, it was good to meet Josh, he’s a gentleman.

If I was faced with doing an M96 build, I’d be very tempted to go this route, if the costs were equivalent to the competition, or cheaper …

Some colours work better of an aero car (speed, guards), some on a non aero car (silver, blues).

That still looks good, but 42 is massively ambitious!

It's the wheels for me, they really only work on Aero Kits cars and generally .1 versions not .2, I think that with a subtle ride height drop would look stunning on hollow spoke Turbo Twists.

It's all the money but without knowing all that has been done it could work out very reasonable, reading my cars history file terrifies me sometimes hehe

That would be interesting, yes please

As for the car pictured, as far as a narrow bodied non aero 996 goes, its gorgeous, and I far prefer a .2 car to an early one.

However its a whole lot of ££ for any 996 bar a turbo

I know someone who recently sold his C4S CSR for close to £10k below that, and it was a very nice, well sorted car
