Having got off the phone with my dealer his comments were along the lines of the following:

its not a limited car just like the GT3 is not a limited car, however the production line only has a certain capacity. Add in the soon to be released GT3 RS that will be built on the same line - simply put it will be restricted in numbers as there simply are not enough build slots.

when you factor in the next gen 911 that's already testing in anger with forecasts for it to be released in 2019. That effectively only allows a year to a year and half for the overall production run.

If this is correct it's a great move by porsche and we will see these cars on the road being used as intended.

Hopefully porsche have acknowledged that to many of there gt cars are being bought by flippers only buying them to make a profit.

Looks good value at £111k base

Is there a link to the 10.30am Press Launch at the Frankfurt Show?

I am on the Porsche page but it just shows a video of the Cayenne or the GT3T but no separate link? Will it just start at 10.30??

UPDATE : It's auto started cool

I do like it too, spoke to a dealer who said very unlikely to get one, too many contracts in place already. I offered to put down 10k anyway to get on the list .... seems like nobody wants to sell me a car nowadays or in some cases only one that I will get in 2020 - ah well, not a significant problem in the grand scheme of things

I would recommend speaking with a different dealer if this one closed the door on you. Seems that different opc centres are saying different things about this car. Anyone have an idea when it will go live on the uk porsche site? Can't wait to see how it will allow you to spec it...

it's not a new car just a pack option if you have a GT3 allocation, either touring pack, or Touring pack black.

You may want to double check that info, I have been informed this is a seperate batch of cars on top of the original gt3 first batch which have already been allocated. They appear to be gauging interest like they did with the gt4 and will adjust the production run to suit. Be great if we get anywhere near close to 700 gt4 cars. I'm sure many would move from a gt4 if they could get a gt3 at list.

As I stated in another thread. not a new car, but maybe the 2nd batch of GT3 will be more numbers than the 1st batch.

I don't think there is an extra batch, there was always going to be a 2018 batch of GT3's , so you cannot go In and order this car unless you have been told you already have a GT3 allocation, and the 2nd batch number are not released yet, so we are all still in a cave regarding allocation.

I think there are no where near 700 GT4's it was about 580 GT4's.

He's correct ,just heard from dealer. It is an option on the gt3 run,the second allocation is due imminently .So there are no extra cars over what there would be ...

All rather unclear. I'm on the GT3 list but I was not too hopeful for the second wave. Now I'm hoping this might improve my chances. I've contacted the dealer to ask.

They have now added the touring back to the porsche configuration site.

You may be right, I guess only time and numbers will tell in the end.

Fingers crossed for the people who missed out and are still looking to buy a new gt3...

I think you may have misinterpreted - this is an option on existing GT3 production.

However, it's possible that Porsche may launch something else during the 991 run-out period that will have a similar flavour but be more readily available - we shall see?

I might of but why would they leave it so late to release this option if its only applies to the already allocated gt3 run?

Spoke to OPC just now and they confirmed that PGB confirmed that it is a option for the next batch
of cars and NOT a separate model, therefore no extra cars will be available.

To be fair OPC's did know about it until yesterday, so they didnt know if extra cars would/wouldn't be available until a couple of hours ago.

As nice as it is i'd go for the wing!

Slightly off topic Cmoose but any idea when the new batch of GT4's will be coming ?

Just thinking with this new sudden announcement of (possibly) more GT3 allocation a new GT4 may not be that far away.

Apologies again for hijacking the thread

A good question but I've been thinking whether this package on the GT3 means a 718 NA GT4 may be more at risk. I can see a case for a PDK GT4 RS which is almost completely track focused but how would a manual GT4 with the GT3 4.0L engine sit in the lineup with this new GT3 package?

I wasn't clear in my earlier post - I was referring to a manual GT4 with the 4.0L GT3 engine, which is a variant which has been discussed/ rumoured on various forums. A detuned version of that same engine - yes may well be and would be step up on the current GT4 in that it's more powerful and a GT dept engine rather than "stock" 911.
