That's your view point, I have mine, don't let it upset you ;-) I accept yours as it's just your opinion and you will have different reasons to pick a car over mine. If no one agrees with me that's good :-) I knew what I wanted to order 18 months before hand, I did not make 50 posts on "what spec shall I get" I wanted an Iconic looking GT3 in manual.

I did laugh out loud even on your 1st line though:

"it's not call the GT3 T, it's a GT3 with the 'touring option pack'" protective or what ;-) it's a GT3 T ffs it's carries the badge on the back.
or will you put a load of stickers on it saying "GT3 with the 'touring option pack' down the side ? any way that one line was worth my post lol made my day already thanks.

PS the GT3 full fat also has the RAM air just to pick you up on things missing :-p if you want to get picky.
carry on (you will anyway, whatever I say) - you are right about one thing, I regret rising to your bait. I bow to your superiority oh mighty one.

The badge might actually mean something more related to racing than marketing tat if it was actually a less good road car. The new gt3 is an excellent road car but the attempt to link it to the racing as more than marketing is hilarious.

And you car doesn't have 'a wing like that race car' or 'a cage like that race car'. It has a rear wing and half a cage. Find me a Cup car that has such a puny rear wing and/or without a front cage first perhaps?

And tmi with regards to what gives you a hard on..... wink
I thought you might like my passion esp after buying a GT4 and selling it quick smart, you might get the new manual 991 GT3 :-)

I want a road car, so a full cage is a no on as one needs to wear a helmet or get knocked out when you bang your head it, not sure they are even legal in road cars !! I would like the RS wing :-) yes but alass I wanted a manual hence avoiding the 991.1 GT3 before.

I have bypassed every GT3 model as they have not been right for me until now. it's a race car for the ROAD, it fits that remit perfect imo.

come on look at it, it must stir something in you if you love cars for me it's all about the wing with a GT3.

I agreed with your opinion, why be so upset ? I just pointed out your comment, A GT3 T is not a GT3 T it's a GT3.....with touring pack option....... and it made my day in a lol moment, I thank you for it, now grow up and stop sulking... because when people start name calling it shows people bad side.

Why are you responding O ?. This is his life, same with the other little fella.
No one cares. Leave them to dribble on, you're shouting into the abyss for no positive return.
Enjoy the car, its the one I would have.

I am not upset - and I haven't called you any names, nor am I sulking. not sure we have any reason to sulk running around in a GT3 (assuming that's what I have bought !) - enjoy

Not really, I don't like it, i'll be open and say that, it's not something I would buy, imo it dilutes the "GT3" badge and was just marketing due to how upset people who wanted the R were and that made the press. Porsche got such a slagging, they made an R look a like saying "this is a full non limited ed production model" which we all know was bullst as you could not order one really, but it shut the press up !!! .

The R was never a GT3 R was it ? So imo the GT3.... with touring package option (ffs that's a mouth full :-p) was 100% to save face due to the R's bad press come back and ltd numbers. That's black and white to see is it not ?

They then took a view on the car and launched it with the 911 T for a double T press release with a rally marketing pack.
make one car unobtainable, sell 911 T 's off the back of it as a drivers car !!! win win, the 1st car shuts up the bad R press, the 2nd car sells like hot cakes. one would have to be a bit blinkered to not see how it all happened.

Porsche don't make bad cars, what they are masters of is marketing, Porsche is there to make money they do that very well indeed.

I am just a boy at heart and I wanted a wing :-) And while some posters say NO ONE agrees with me, as that looks like it holds a strong argument and under minds what I have said, The bigger % knows the GT3 needs a wing ;-p.

I see those styles a lot on PH, Aggressive classic attack mode to undermine another posters opinion.

yes

As someone who has read this thread from the start, it's quite sad to see.

The constant criticism of another car for reasons only important to him and the complete refusal to accept anyone else's opinion is tiresome and boring. And then to try and then justify his, seemingly ignorant, view that the car isn't a true GT3 in the hope of making his "full fat" car appear more special... rolleyes

It's showcases the worst of PH however the regular contributors to this section of the forum continue to do a very good job of tolerating him.

I've been offline for a day or so and just come back to this read. Most hilarious thing I've read for ages!!!

I'm sorry but the 991.2 GT3 is a marketers dream come true! I'll caveat what I'm about to say with the fact that I own one so am not talking things up or down, just being factual.

If you drive a 996 GT3 or GT3 RS and then go drive a 996 cup car, there is very little difference, hence why the 996 will always be a true icon, bugger the build numbers or the value, go drive it and you'll see what I mean. The same can't be said for the 991. It is a very good GT car with a cup car engine, but I'm afraid is quite far removed from the cup car sibling it is supposed to be based on.

It would appear that about the time VW took over, Porsche realised that they could sell cars to people who cared more about values, bar room bks and how many options the car has rather than how much fun it would be to get on track and play with it.

sad but true - I love both my 996 GT3 RS and my 991 Touring (sic) - but only one of them is closely related to the GT3 cup car of the same generation. however doesn't stop me tracking the Touring, as it's bloody fast and you can't use all that ability on the road.

laugh funny how anyone still believes this. In the 996 gt3 perhaps and it's been bashed by you all the time for that exact reason. The 991 is miles away from any of Porsche's motorsport cars.
my car looks more like the one above than the 911 GT3 T.

GT3's are boys poster cars. I own every Model RS as I love what the GT3 stands for even if past cars have not made the best roads cars, Porsche still made them which is great, yes I bought a 996 GT3 and did not get on with it for the road, but the lust was there for years and years, yes the new 991 GT3 Full fat, is a far nicer road car now than any past GT3 hence I have waited and waited to get back into a GT3, but I still wanted that Badge to mean something, The iconic GT3. I was hoping the GT4 would be the dream car, GT3 looks with the wing etc etc but it's just never set any thing alight for me, you know that more than most.

Now I have a GT3 which works great on the road and in this day and age it's has a bloody gear stick with as last shorter ratio's, it has a wing like that race car, a cage like that race car, a fire extinguisher, full harness's, the cage pings over bumps, the Ram air sucks air into that 500hp NA engine, the wing offers down force if you dare to take the car to it's limits, the whole thing just gives me a hard on ;-)

It's one of the best ever cars I have driven while being 100% usable, it's an amazing car. to a point I have 3 cars up for sale to allow me to keep the GT3.

The GT3 T well it's just a lesser understated car (Porsches words) maybe just too "understated" to carry the GT3 name imo.
PH thread descends into farce ...

Even if you're right - you are arguing real semantics
the T is a GT3 with a wing that disappears and comes back when its needed - there - fixed it for you !

i bought a spoilered car - because i'm a show off. Porsche allowed some to have a more subtle iteration of exactly the same car, good luck to them.
i wish i wasn't so vain!

None of us mortals are getting anywhere near to pace to feel the lack of down force of the T compared to the winged car, nor the power drop nor any change in drag.

Please talk about something else now.
you can tell us more about your sim - that sounds like a lot of fun for the price of a set of speedline alloys !

I think he has the wrong spec personally, Clubsport should be PDK for full track spec IMHO. Manual is better suited to the GT3 Touring for that old-skool hot-rod vibe.

No doubt he'll be along in a minute to lambaste my opinon as usual though!

I just popped in to say Hi..! smile
No wonder this country's productivity is so far behind the ROW...Too many of us are spending potentially valuable constructive time and energy squabbling over nothing on forums..redcard

FWIW, i for one regret not ordering a Touring when i had he chance, as my RY winged GT3 is drawing far too much wrong attention from the fuzz and wannabee boy racers.getmecoat

The only link to GT3 racing these days is the engine and the general 911 shape. Porsche marketing have done a terrific job in getting people to believe that a wing on the back makes their car a "road going race car " - especially one with a manual gearbox...

wonderful new Carfection video from Henry C about the latest GT3 with a manual box - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0d_AZbSLwQ - we are all lucky to have one, whether winged or not, it doesn't matter.
