Hi all, just bought a 991 gen 2 c4s. When i drive it till its warm then switch it off, and leave it for a few hours then restart I'm getting big clouds of smoke from the exhaust. Is this a normal 911 trait, or should i be taking it back to the dealer? Also noticed in my garage, on the floor and against the units there is an obvious oil spray coming from the exhaust. Guessing the dealer should be fixing this? Or is this a common thing with the 991 gen 2?

have a look at this - https://vimeo.com/207932505

this is taken from my thread at https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... and i had the same problem. In the end i rejected the car and swapped into a new C2S, and subsequently three more after that. None displayed the issue, but the fault was with a leaking seal on the turbos. I believe from Sheffield OPC that they have rectified 3 or 4 which had defects, but the newer models don't seem to have been an issue.

If its doing the same, i would get it back and question the tech department to ask for a full investigation - i took my back twice and they kept mis-diagnosing, hence why i kicked off and asked them to swap me to a different vehicle.

The flat 6 is prone to a bit of smoke when you initially start the car, this should clear straight away, if any major smoke persists for more than a couple of seconds then there may be an issue.

But it shouldn't spray oil everywhere.

Clearly not right.

Clearly not, assuming it really is oil and not just dirty/sooty condensation which is again fairly typical

I have a 991.2 GTS, 2 wheel drive. 7,000 miles and used only 400ml of oil. Short trips, long trips, track days, stop / start and never seen a puff of smoke. Condensation / vapour on a cold start yes, but certainly never any oily puffs or spray of oil around the rear end.
Suggest you get it to an OPC or other good garage soon....

Eeek! I'm no lawyer, but sounds like you have reasonable grounds there
