I can see the 0-60 times of modern cars becoming a pretty useless metric. I think 0-100 shows much more info.

That's a good point, especially when they are having to use tenths of a second to measure them. Try starting and stopping your watch to within a tenth of a second.

My fastest feeling car was probably my Caterham, with the roof and doors off, six inches off the road and with an exhaust exiting in my ear. It always felt very fast.

Probably not as fast as my 911 though smile

Perhaps we should not use a stopwatch, just a random strangers in the passenger seat - then we just measure the expletives they utter as you floor it.

0-100-0 should become the new industry standard.

This is slightly controversial, but:

Good numbers, and I really really wanted to like the 4GTS, it would be my ideal car, mainly because I can have a roof rack fitted, and 4 wheel drive. But I found the .2 4GTS pretty inert and rather dull. Yes, it's probably a better car, in the same way my Golf R is a better car then the focus RS.

But when I was spending 120k on a car i wanted added drama, and in my eyes the gts is in last place.

My money went on the vantage, maybe the worst car, but it just made me smile in a way the others didn't.

If I had the money for one I'd probably do exactly the same thing. Congrats on the Vantage, I had the old one but the new one is a hell of a thing!

Don't understand why people go for the 4 instead of the regular 2. More fun, and traction is never a problem with Porsches. Heavier and more expensive, for what? If you really need AWD buy a Range Rover.

The GTS is the best non GT-Porsche. Forget the Turbos or the T. The 2WD GTS is more playful and sounds better than Turbos, extremely fast and all you need (and more) for the road. Excellent car. Vantage to expensive for what it is in my opinion. And it can't even use the "I'm pretty" excuse anymore.

Faster to 100mph than Evo's times for a 997 Turbo and Carrera GT.

Did you manage to "only" spend £120k? I made it to £145k and called it a day. Much as I love AM I'm not convinced yet and at £150k for a generous spec I want to be 100% convinced!

To be fair I haven't been able to drive one yet so that might yet change once I get behind the wheel......

No, my spec is 148k, and yes the gas is 120k specked, but I prefer the Aston. Have a weekend test drive when I get back from mongolia in September, but for now the short drive was enough to confirm what I though.

So you can’t use it during the week and won’t use it at the weekend?

What would you suggest is the time you can use it then??

My AM made me frown and swear more often than smile. Wet feet... fixed... Wet feet... fixed... Wet feet... gone! I cringe whenever I see some poor sucker driving one. Never again.
