Looking to buy a turbo for the coming winter.

Any thoughts on which to go for. Not that bothered about the PCCB's and extra power but will an 'S' hold it value better over the coming couple of years should I keep it that long. Will put about 10 - 12k miles on it.

2015 Gen 1 'S' £117 - 120k ish with 10k miles and Gen 2 2017 car with same miles about the same price.

Thoughts?

You won't need 4 wheel drive as my acupuncturist has told me the summer will continue for a further 73 months. Keep the GT4 driving

Hi Dave..i've got my name down for a new 992 Turbo S as an all Black 991 Turbo has been a 40 year itch of mine..I would get a Gen 2 Turbo in the mandatory Black sans sunroof if it was a high spec..If its poverty spec i'd stick with the Gen 1 S as its pretty loaded as standard.
There is a huge variation in the non S specs so choose wisely for easy future saleability. They also look great in GT silver and Agate if you're a stickler for clean looking cars..Basalt black is gorgeous on the Gen 1 IMO..

Cheers chaps...

Yes Darren, I am thinking to offload the GT4 as i want a new Spyder so a Cayenne Diesel S, 991 Turbo and a new Spyder seems like a great garage to me.

I'm also travelling a lot more to London from Cardiff so its not idea in a GT4.

I don't have great knowledge of the Turbo's hence asking the questions so thanks John, good to know.
I like the look of the Gen 1 more it anything at the front and so a nice black S would be ideal.

I'm guessing that a nice S will hold its value better?
Is PDCC standard on the S?

Also what options would be considered important for resale on a none S?

The basic spec on a non S Turbo is better on the Gen 2 AFAIK..The TS is rather unique in Porsche terms in that its fully loaded as standard..Options the S has over the non-S GEN 1 are as follows: PCCB,PDCC,18 ways, centre lock alloys,C/F interior,LEDs,BOSE..
Essential options you need to add to the non S are IMO 18 ways,C/F interior and BOSE..I much prefer the PCCB and the design on the centre locks however there is a lot to be said on the standard 5 lugs from a practicality POV..
As alternatives Dave, have you considered a Black Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo which is an awesome tool and eminently suited to the London to Cardiff slog..Get a drive in one to see if you like it and it doubles as a luxury family wagon..
Burmeister is a very desirable option on the 991 Turbo S if you can find one..Make sure it has heated seats as they were a NCO new..

There’s a nicely specced one at OPC Tewkesbury which isn’t too far from Cardiff. It is an ex press car so maybe not a true buying consideration but at least it would let you know what one is like.

You beat me to the punch as i was about to mention it..Its an absolute peach of a spec with the RAS fitted which i like, although not essential on the Panamera..
