Who is running with no front plate
Discussion
I have a front 'plate' on the Cayman, but its a vinyl sticker. Not strictly legal but doesn't raise any eyebrows as is flat enough to look like a plate from a couple of meters away, and fully reflective. It keeps the bumper looking nice and sleek, and only £5 from ebay. Haven't MOTd it yet so will see what they say when the time comes...
May be a consideration for you so you don't have to drill any holes into the bumper.

Guilty your honour as charged..It was indeed a £100 fixed penalty notice.A lot of GT Porsches delivered recently are with no front plate, so quite common..Fines ,, who been nabbed. Was it Taffy that had to cough up 100£.

TBT the copper who booked me has gained notoriety in our part of the world for being an arsele and has booked pretty much everybody in the locality for very minor motoring offences. He's continually being moved from one station to the other as all the other cops are sick to death of him..

Interested to know why a ‘GT’ Porsche shouldn’t need one?TBT the copper who booked me has gained notoriety in our part of the world for being an arsele and has booked pretty much everybody in the locality for very minor motoring offences. He's continually being moved from one station to the other as all the other cops are sick to death of him..

Any recommends for suppliers of stick on plates? looking to have one on my next main car, I'm not brave enough to use my car without a plate
DMB graphics can also do them. GT cars look best with a vinyl front plate on imho. The regular plate and plinth does spoil the lines of the front end a bit but stick on vinyl looks great. It’s all a bit Max Power leaving the front plate off imho, and just seems a bit attention seeking. I mean, the car will “look better” without the clutter of a rear plate too, so why not go the whole way and leave that off too?
There's no denying the car looks better without a front plate. I'm amazed but happy to hear that quite a few people seem to enjoy plate free motoring with out getting hassled by the nanny state.
I'm interested to know if any one has been through Average Speed camera zones and how that works. Would the cameras flag up that they couldn't read a plate and so have a real person look further into it? I think they only use forward looking cameras, unless any one knows better! Or how about the Dartford crossing, or the M6 toll road.... any experiences to share?
I'm not brave enough to run without a front plate so I went with a stick on front plate and graphics from Rick at Highgate House. Can't say enough good things about him, without a doubt this is how 'distance selling' should work. Not often you come away from speaking to a company with a smile on your face, but I did, he talks you through every detail so you know exactly what to expect.
The vinyl plates are definitely the best comprise between no plate and the ugly plinth. Doesn't ruin the lines too much in my opinion.

What answer would you give if you were stopped by police for no front plate? I'm happy to be corrected, but you'd have to convince the officer that it "just fell off" in order to get away with a small fine. If they suspect you are doing it to evade motoring offences then that is a different issue, I have seen on police TV shows were an offender has to leave their car at the side of the road until a number plate gets affixed.
Not disagreeing with running no front plate just genuinely interested, I'd run with no front plate but my bumper has been drilled.

A £1000 fine would make them think twice.
Do you think a £1000 fine would put people off who can afford a GT3? Probably 2-3 days wages at most.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
